    1. RE: JAMES LOVELOCK AUSSIE
    2. Robert Sterry
    3. Hi Robyn Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. I actually want to run your enquiry past my 79 years old cousin Gwen Eastment. You may have written to her at some stage. She's been researching Lovelocks for 25 years. I seem to remember a connection to a Lovelock and an aboriginal girl. She is coming for lunch this Monday with her daughter Shaun so will ask her then. Sounds like you've got quite a few possibilities happening here and you may well be correct. However, I wonder if you could supply some additional info please: On the Australian death certificate of James Lovelock (1793/95-1862), it should state: where and when he died: name and surname, rank or profession: Cause of death etc: Name and surname of Father and Mother with rank or profession: Where and when buried: name and religion of minister: where born and how long in Australia: If deceased was married, at what age and to whom: Issue, in order, their Names and Ages: All this detail may be vital. Could I please also have all the detail on his transport and Quarter Session papers? Have you located the birth or baptism details of his son William who married the Aboriginal girl? Milton Lilbourne has a likely entry: 1793 Feb 24 Privately Baptised James son of Wm & Mary Lovelock as of course does Wootten Rivers: 1797 Nov 5 James Son of John & Elizabeth Lovelock I think the former is the more likely myself. This marriage in Wootton Rivers is also a possibility: 1831 May 13 James Lovelock of this parish, bachelor & Hannah Hillier of this parish, spinster. By Banns. Both signed. Witness: John Rawlings but I think the one you found married in 1826 is the more likely. But this may have been a second marriage. I'd look for an earlier marriage as well. Perhaps even this one in Wroughton: 1814 Oct 20 James Lovelock & Lucy Ball I could find no likely children of James baptised in Wiltshire - and no girl with a father James. Perhaps she was from an earlier marriage? There are certainly likely children born to a James Lovelock and Lucy in Wroughton. James was of course in his thirties if he married Fanny Rawlins suggesting an earlier marriage likely. But could not find any suitable burial of a Lucy Lovelock between 1815 and 1826. Let's see what the rest of the Lovelock list think about it. Will get back soon. Cheers Robert HI my name is Robyn I have e-mailed Malcolm and Graham and thet have advised me to try the others on the web page to see if they can help me trace James Lovelock He was a Convict sent to Australia on the 8.4.1834 I believe he was born about 1795 or 1793 I have just got his death cert. back and it says that he was 67 in 1862 and on his transport papers says he was 41yrs in 1834 I have looked though the Lovelock web page and I have found only two James. I was wondering if you would have any information about him He was married with one girl child when he was sentenced Whitshire Quarter Session. I did find a Fanny Lovelock died on the 3.11.1838 age 50 wife of tran/convict.Little Bedwyn Burials 1591-1837Whitshire FHS Modern Transcript. There is also a Marriage 1826 May 9 James Lovelock and Fanny Rawlins both of Savernaque Index 1728-1838 Wooton Rivers Marriages. The reason I would like to find his rele's is that he had one child in Australia called William Lovelock his wife here is unknown as she was an Aboriginal and they were not aloud to marry while they where still married at home ENG. There is about 100 descendants from him today Kind Regards Robyn
