    3. Hi William I said I would get back to you after you last email. I have had a good look at the detail you have provided - thank you very much. I checked a couple of other sources for where you might find detail on the birth of Charlotte Lovelock abt 1819 in Maidenhead, Berkshire or her father William Lovelock, broker. I had a look at Lovelocks in Berkshire extracted from the 1851 census. This is complete for Berkshire. This is only an index so it won't show occupations. But it has the reference you need to check the original census. I noticed three possibilities: LOVELOCK William 59 Hungerford Kintbury HO107/1686 142 LOVELOCK William 59 Newbury Thatcham HO107/1685 57 LOVELOCK William 55 Newbury Speen HO107/1685 600 However, since Charlotte won't be living with him in 1851, it will be difficult to establish the link, unless it mentions he was a 'broker'. It's also of course quite possible that William came from Middlesex, perhaps even Shoreditch: St John the Baptist, Hoxton since it was common practice to marry in the home parish of the bride rather than the groom and Charlotte was of course married in Hoxton, Middlesex. I would have thought 'brokers' were more likely to be associated with the London area rather than Berkshire. But that's a bit of a guess. I checked Specialist Indexes and Marriage, Census and other Indexes, both by Jeremy Gibson. There is a marriage index, males only, which covers 95% of Berkshire, up to 1837. Fee is 2 pounds 50p per specific marriage enquiry. You need to send SAE or 3 IRCs. Address is: Mrs P Knight, Old Oak Cottage, The Pound, Cookham, Nr Maidenhead, Berks. SL6 9QE. This might help you find William if he is listed as a broker and was married in Berkshire. For Middlesex, Boyd's Marriage Index for London and Middlesex might be worth a check but it doesn't appear to include the Shoreditch parishes. You could check the 1851 for the Shoreditch area for William, broker. The East of London Family History Society was published indexes to names in the 1851. Vol 7 covers Shoreditch area. Hope some of that helps. Very best of luck Robert ---------------------------------------- Lovelock Web Site: www.ri.silicomp.fr/~loveluck/genealogy/lovelock
