    3. Hi Sally, I just answered a query from Graham L on that one as follows. Cheers Robert Malcolm L and myself - as you will know from posts to the Lovelock list - have been extracting Lovelocks from the GRO ie civil registration index of BDMs in England and Wales which commenced in June 1837. I have just completed marriages 1837-1853 so this marriage should be there. Let me check .. There's only one Lovelock married in London in 4th quarter 1839. 1839, Lovelock, Charlotte, Shoreditch, II, 390, 4 Sounds like the right one. However, presumeably your Texas gentleman already has that certificate. If not, he should certainly obtain it. It would be helpful to know whether her age was shown on the certificate and whether she was a spinster. Sadly, according to my Phillimore's Parish Atlas, there are no registers available for Maidenhead, which indeed was a parish. However, some births and/or marriages from that parish are in the IGI for the years 1796-1823. However, I have already extracted all Lovelocks from the IGI for Berkshire and they are included in the Lovelocks in Berkshire file. There is only one Charlotte baptism entry in the Berkshire Lovelocks in the parish of Shaw with Donington: 1793 May 20 (born May 15) Charlotte of Wm & Charlotte Lovelock However, marrying at age 46 doesn't seem too likely. Certainly not for a first marriage. I'd be checking with the Berkshire Record Office just to make sure that there are no available registers for Maidenhead all the same. I'd like to check that 1881 census entry. What was Charlotte's married name? The more common the surname, the less likely it will be her. It would also be useful to try and pick up Charlotte and her family in early census to check her stated age. Ages tended to vary a lot between censuses. She may have been born in Maidenhead but baptised in a parish nearby. It would be useful to try and locate any brothers and sisters of Charlotte who may have been baptised elsewhere. The following parishes are within 3 miles of Maidenhead: Bray, Bisham, Cookham, Taplow and White Waltham. Some baptisms from Bray are in the IGI. Bisham Baptisms, Marriages and Burials 1560-1812 (Modern Transcript) have been searched without finding any Lovelocks. The others have not been searched but registers are available at the Berkshire RO. Some may have been filmed by the Mormons. Check the LDS site for detail. > Hello all, > Someone on one of the other lists posted a query from > someone in Texas trying to find out about: > Charlotte LOVELOCK who married Joseph CHARLES December > 23,1839 in Shoreditch,London. > Both father's names were William, and Thomas CHARLES > and Elizabeth LOVELOCK were the witnesses. They think > Charlotte was born about 1819 in > Maidenhead,Berkshire.I know there are several on the > list with interests in Berkshire.I haven't checked the > LOVELOCK site yet but I will,I just thought the names > might be familiar to someone out there. The e-mail > address for the person in Texas who is doing the > research is <WmChas@aol.com>
