    3. Hi John, There is the burial of a Francis Lovelock, aged 83 at Kintbury, St Mary on 3 May 1834. There seem to be a few Lovelock burials in the parish. 3. Major and Mrs Hanbury ( the current owners of Lovelock's House ) have kindly invited me to visit their home on Saturday 20th July to take photographs of the property and in particular the carved mantelpiece dedicated to Francis Lovelock ( 1751 - 1834 ). The whereabouts of Francis's burial and his personal circumstances in 1834 still elude me. If anyone of the Lovelock's List has any record of his burial/will I would be pleased to hear from you prior to my visit. 1. New Lovelock Baptisms in Wiltshire
    2. Robert Sterry
    3. Hi All Have now extracted new Lovelock baptisms in Wiltshire from LDS Vital Records British Isles 2nd edition. There were over 400 entries of which the following below are new. As you can imagine, took several hours to cross reference them all to what we already had in the Lovelocks in Wiltshire combined Vital Records file. The Trowbridge entries are particularly helpful I think. Will be interested to see whether this additional info helps any of you make some new connections in your family trees. Hopefully it does. Marriages next. Best wishes Robert WILTSHIRE Broad Hinton Baptisms 1746-1907 (LDS Vital Records British Isles 2nd ed.: FHL Film 1239308) 1892 Jun 5 (born 29 Apr 1892) Eleanor Betty d. 1. Reading Family History Resources
    2. Robert Sterry
    3. Dear Julie As a follow-up to your excellent previous response, I wonder if I could impose on you with two further questions regarding availability of relevant parish archives at Reading, St Mary. As you know, I am trying to track John Lovelock and his wife Elizabeth Woolfe who married at Reading St Mary in 1739. We know that only one male son from that marriage survived and he later settled at Wallingford St Mary le More. However, I have never found the death/burial of John Lovelock senior or what happened to his other two daughters: Lucy and Martha who were baptised at Reading St Mary in 1740/41 and 1745 respectively. I have, as you suggest, already searched the parish registers for Reading St Mary as they have been filmed by the Mormons and I can access the films of the registers from here in Australia. I believe I may have found the burial of Elizabeth Woolfe as follows: 1767 Aug 5 Elizabeth Lovelock But I can't be sure from this entry. I have never found a burial for her husband John Lovelock. Nor have I found any marriage or burial entries for the daughters Lucy or Martha. I have also searched the surrounding parishes without result. I wondered if perhaps they might have become non-conformists? I have searched what non-conformist records I can that have been filmed by the Mormons. I note there are Lovelocks baptised at Reading, Broad Street Meeting-Independent between 1807 and 1813. But they don't appear to be related. COULD YOU POSSIBLY PLEASE TELL ME WHAT NON-CONFORMIST RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR READING FOR THE PERIOD 1740-1830? I would be most grateful. Perhaps you have a list of your holdings for Berkshire relevant to family history research which I could purchase rather than asking you all thee questions? Or perhaps they are on-line? I would be happy to purchase if available. It also occurs to be that there might be MONUMENTAL INSCRIPTIONS for Reading St Mary which just might turn up the deaths of John Lovelock and Elizabeth Woolfe. If I might be permitted a further question, ARE MIs AVAILABLE FOR READING ST MARY AND HAVE THEY BEEN PUBLISHED AND BY WHOM? Many thanks Robert Sterry ---------------------------------------- Lovelock Web Site: www.ri.silicomp.fr/~loveluck/genealogy/lovelock

    3. Glad Helen came to the rescue on the census! Looking good! The index presumeably doesn't give the occupation which might confirm if you have the right family. The certificate will also of course give additional info. and well worth obtaining if noone else has it - which is very likely. You may still need to check surrounding parishes to find baptisms of other siblings - and indeed Thomas' baptism. The registration district of Hartley Wintney of course contains several parishes. I note that we don't have any Thomas Lovelock baptised abt 1816 in Crondall. The nearest is 1820. That might still be him since ages in census are often a few years out. 3. Many thanks Julie for your prompt reply. I am most grateful. I will copy your excellent and most comprehensive reply to my co-researcher on this particular family 'line', John Lovelock, as well as the other Lovelock reseachers with whom I am in email contact. Best wishes from 'Down Under'. 3. Hi Col Well done. That gives us a bit more info to work on. However, that baptism of Thomas L c 1851 at Hartley Wintney in Berkshire is just as elusive. I checked the new LDS British Isles Vital Records (2nd edition) for you, but alas nothing. Since Thomas was apparently not baptised at Hartley Wintney, he was probably baptised at an adjoining parish. So you will have to search adjoining parishes that have not as yet been searched in that time period. It might also be possible to pick up his father, Thomas the Malster, in the 1851 census, hopefully living at Hartley Wintney. However, I don't believe any of us have extracted any Lovelocks from the 1851 census for Hampshire, have we? I can't even remember checking how much of the 1851 census for Hampshire has been indexed. But I'm sure one of the members of the Lovelock list will be able to enlighten us. Alternatively, the Wiltshire Record Office should know. 3. Evening Colin and all, This, as they say, could be the start of something big. I note that we do not have any Tilehurst (or Tylehurst) entries, and the only Thomas from Hartley Wintney is a "near-miss" baptised on 3 Oct 1847; alas, we have him down as the illegitimate son of. Mary Lovelock, so I do not see how his father was another Thomas Lovelock, unless further HW gems remain to be discovered. But with ten children this must potentially pull a lot more Lovelocks into the fold, unless they were all girls! Has anyone any light to shed? 1. Martha Lovelock and Thomas Wicks
    2. Robert Sterry
    3. Hi Maureen Saw your query on the Lovelock list. Thought I'd try and find for you the baptism of Thomas Wicks in Wiltshire abt 1857 using the new Mormon CDs out on Vital Records British Isles( 2nd edition). The closest I could find was: WIX, Thomas Christening Gender: Male Birthplace: Wootton Rivers, Wilts, Eng Christening Date: 30 May 1858 Recorded in: Wootton Rivers, Wiltshire, England Father: George WIX Mother: Louisa Source: FHL Film 1279365 Dates: 1728 - 1906 The name WICKS of course lends itself to a variety of spellings - so in a time when few could spell, you'll need to check out variant spellings. I also checked for the marriage of Thomas Wicks to Martha Lovelock, probably abt 1877. But no luck, alas. Without the marriage and hopefully the name of his father, it will be difficult to know if any WICKS baptism is the right one. I note that the marriage detail (from the LDS Vital Records 1st edition) provides no father's name. Possibly she was illegitimate. You really need to check the marriage detail from the actual parish register - not just the index. However, I also checked for any baptisms of Elizabeth Maslen in Wiltshire abt 1839. There's a couple of possibilities: MASLEN, Elizabeth Christening Gender: Female Christening Date: 25 Mar 1832 Recorded in: Upavon, Wiltshire, England Father: John MASLEN Mother: Ann Source: FHL Film 1239309 Dates: 1687 - 1875 MASLEN, Elizabeth Christening Gender: Female Christening Date: 27 Aug 1835 Recorded in: Wanborough, Wiltshire, England Father: Robert MASLEN Mother: Mary Source: FHL Film 1279303 Dates: 1664 - 1839 But without linking information you won't know whether any are correct. I assume that James Lovelock who married Elizabeth Maslen is James Lovelock born in Pewsey in 1839, son of James Lovelock and Hannah Eyles on the Lieflock Lovelock line. I did not have this connection but it seems to fit ok. Do we have any other siblings of Martha Lovelock d. James Lovelock and Elizabeth Maslen? I also note that I don't have any Lovelock baptisms for Pewsey before 1842. However, I have noted that this information comes from Graham Lovelock. So perhaps he has earlier baptisms? If so, I'd like to include them in the compiled vital records for Wiltshire - if you don't mind please Graham? I'd also like to trace your descent from James Lovelock and Elizabeth Maslen. That is, if you don't mind sharing this information. It might come in handy in trying to help others who may be researching your line in New Zealand. Maureen's suggestion of checking census for Wiltshire is also an excellent idea. You'll probably need to get along to your local Mormon Family History Centre to do that. Best wishes Robert

    3. Hi Everyone As promised have started extracting Lovelocks from the new LDS British Isles Vital Records (2nd edition) CDs. It's slow work as I'm cross referencing to what we already have. (These compiled county records are of course already on-line on the Lovelock website: www.ri.silicomp.fr/~loveluck/genealogy/lovelock) In due course I will send the updated versions of these compiled county records to James with the additional info from the second edition CDs Please find below the ADDITIONAL BERKSHIRE MARRIAGE entries from the 2nd edition CDs.
