You'll find them on the Lovelock Web pages in the usual place (Sources -> Wiltshire and Source -> Berkshire). These updates include extracts by Robert from the LDS Vital Records British Isles 2nd edition, and a number of Berks records provided by John Lovelock. There may well be other contributions since the last updates - Robert tries to indicate sources in the files, although I'm sure its not easy to keep track of them all! These are the "sanitised" versions, which do not include baptisms after 1901 and marriages after 1921. The unexpurgated versions are available by email from Robert or myself. Regards, James --------------030207030502040600020702--

Hi Lovies I got the marriage cert for my Thomas' Parents. Married 29 Mar 1849, Nately Scures, Hants Thomas Lovelock, Bachelor, Maltster, father William Lovelock, Shoemaker. Mary Ann Cooper, Spinster, Servant, father William Cooper, Brewer. In the presence of Thomas Islett ?, & Mary Lovelock. So there are a couple of more rungs in the ladder. Any Relatives out there yet ? Regards Col
I had a most enjoyable day visiting Lovelocks House and the neighbouring villages on Saturday. Mr and Mrs Hanbury were very helpful in providing names of local people who may be able to shed some light on why Newtown Lodge was renamed Lovelocks House circa 1905. It would appear that the property was owned by James Thring Coxe during the 19th C. As there were no children from James Coxe's marriage to a Miss Bernard upon his death in 1905 the property was bequethed to his niece Alicia ( B 1857 D 1946 ) who was married to Captain Arnold Charles Burmester ( Born 1857 Died 1944 ). According to James Langford ( B 1915 ) who knew the Bermesters ( and has lived all his life in Shefford Woodlands ) the house was named after Francis Lovelock (1751-1834 ). Francis Lovelock was a great great Uncle of Captain Bermester. Capt Burmesters Mother's Maiden name was Coxe. Further research is required to unravel this web of family relationships and this might reveal why Newtown Lodge became Lovelocks House. Mr and Mrs Hanbury have a copy of an advertisement from Country Life Magazine dated 27 February 1948 advertising the sale of the " Lovelocks " estate which comprised nearly all the small village of Shefford Woodlands a medium sized country house, three georgian residences, village post office, Forge Cottage and Smithy and 10 cottages. It would appear that the estate was broken up at this stage as by the 1960's Lovelocks House was sold on it's own. After visiting Shefford Woodlands I drove to Kintbury Church where I found Francis Lovelock's grave which also contains the remains of his mother Ann, sister Elizabeth and father Edward. The attractive Monument has the following inscriptions: Sacred to the memory of FRANCIS LOVELOCK of Avington who died April 25 1834 Aged 83 years. Sacred to the memory of ANN LOVELOCK wife of Edward Lovelock who died December 24 1781 aged 59 years. Sacred to the memory of ELIZABETH LOVELOCK daughter of Edward & Ann Lovelock who died Jan 14 1786 aged 28 years. Sacred to the memory of EDWARD LOVELOCK of Hungerford? who died September? 3 1780 aged 50? years. Alongside this family grave is another monument with the inscription: Here lieth the body of EDWARD LOVELOCK departed this life September? 27 1722. The family memorial tells us that Francis lived in Avington. If we can find his Will it might tell us where and may mention other property in the area. Mr Hanbury showed me a copy of Fairburn' Book of Crests dated 1892. The entry for LOVELOCK reads: Lovelock, a greyhound passant sa. Another volume includes an illustration of the greyhound. Best Wishes to all Lovelock researchers. John
Hi Lovies Saw this link on another list, has 1 John Lovelock. http://www.thamesweb.co.uk/windsorpeople/namesort1881.html Col
Hi fellow Lovies I am looking at getting a marriage cert for Thomas Lovelock, b. c1816, at Crondall HANTS, & Mary Ann ?, ? born at Hartley Wintney HANTS. Does any of you have this cert ? Are you able to verify that they are the parents of Mary b. 1850, Thomas b. 1852, Olive b. 1858, Edward b. 1860, John b. 1866, George b. 1868 & James b. 1870. Greetings, all It's great to see Colin's regular contributions of material, BUT - is someone intending to consolidate it into a Lovelock-Census Info database in due course for eventual inclusion on the Website? I know James is rather busy, but I seem to recall a question being asked at one time whether we should all pool the data we have culled. I have a fair amount drawn from all of the first 6 released which I am happy to put into the pot. Graham PS (For Colin) The abbreviation for Hampshire is HANTS not HAMTS. According to Chambers Dictionary this is because the original name of the county was Hantshaving, but don't ask me how on earth it got that name. Which reminds me - the Hampshire List had some correspondence on this recently, which wasn't resolved. I'll now go tell 'em. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Colin P Borrott-Maloney" <colinbm@bigpond.com> To: <LOVELOCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 04, 2002 1:31 PM Subject: Hartley Wintney HAMTS 1861 census > Hi Lovies > Some more Lovelock material to feed upon. > > Hartley Wintney 1861 Census > 17 Albion Place, Thomas LOVELOCK, 40 yrs, Maltster, born Crondall HAMTS. > Mary Anne, 33 yrs, born Odiham HAMTS. > Mary, 11 yrs, born Hartley Wintney HAMTS. > Thomas, 8 yrs, Scholar, born Hartley Wintney HAMTS. > Olivia, 3 yrs, born Hartley Wintney HAMTS. > Edward, 6 mths, born Hartley Wintney HAMTS. > > Grange Moor ................etc

Thanks Helen - another amazing discovery. I wonder if Edward Lovelocke is the father of Francis of Lovelocks House? Another possibility is Edward Lovelocke who was buried at Kintbury 1 June 1755. Hello all! Until now, the Lovelock Web pages have been housed on the Web server at my work, which is perhaps not the most appopriate home for the Lovelocks! I recently subscribed to a cable modem Internet service (Robert is jealous because neither cable or ADSL services are available where he lives :-)) This makes it practical for me to move the Lovelock Web pages to my new ISP (the cable service). I've already transferred most of the pages, and you should find them at: http://perso.numericable.fr/~lovjames/family-history/lovelock/ The old pages will not disappear immediately, but I shall probably only maintain and update the pages at the new address. I may have dropped some files when I was copying them to the new address, so if you find any broken links please do let me know. I apologise for the lack of activity on my part recently, but I just haven't been able to find the time. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible :-) I do follow the discussions on the mailing list, and I was impressed by the recent team-work between Jon L, Allen and Helen! Thanks also to John Gough for an interesting Web site address, which I hadn't seen before, and of course to Robert for his updates which I still haven't integrated on the Web site! Regards, James
