Sarah; Eliza Margaretta; Edward > Edgington; Henry William; Kezia; Isabella. Hello Daphne Sorry, I don't have any of these names in my Heckfield data. Apart from the Occomore connections which are in the Lovelock files on the Website my only other Lovelock connection in the north east of Hampshire is Elizabeth Lovelock (born about Nov 1696 at Swallowfield) who married Jonathan Lewington (also born about 1696) on 18 Oct 1716. I have recorded a number of children for this couple. A 2xgt-grandaughter, Martha, was to marry Charles Nevill(e) at Heckfield on 17 Oct 1835 and one of their daughters, Eliza, married Charles Barker at Mattingley on 14 Sep 1872 and in doing so became my gt-grandparents. I have no idea at present who Elizabeth Lovelock's parents were or if she is listed any where on the Lovelock website. I would be interested in any info about her. -- John Lewis <jayellatntlworlddotcom> from Bournemouth, Dorset, UK. using Debian GNU/Linux and GeneWeb genealogy software
I have been browsing the Lovelock website to see if I can find any mention of the twiglet I have from Kingsclere without any success. My interst in the Lovelock stems from the marriage of Lovelocks into my Cooper & Foster families. I also have a more remote interest with the marriage of my step-grandfather John Hart to an Occomore, a descendant of a Lovelock marriage. The twiglet I have looks like this To the 5th generation. Hello Graham Thank you for responding. I don't know exactly where gf William was in 1901. I would assume that he was in London. He was born in Stoke Newington - 1867 He married Emma Eliza Atkins in 1894 at Bow Common She was born in Bromley - 1875 Children - Mary Jane - 1894 Bromley William, George, Lily, Daisy Then Harry - 1902 in West Ham Stephen (my father) - 1904 in South Leyton Then John, Walter, and Edward. The next information that I have is that they are in Oshawa, Canada in 1924. I have been a little frustrated with the lack of information, but will keep plugging along. Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks again Mike Lovelock
I’m afraid I can’t help you, Mike, with respect to any research on your line. However, we are aware of the two following Census entries which provide a link between Pewsey and Staffordshire, and curiously in 1901 between Pewsey, Staffordshire and Stoke Newington. Can you provide any background? On the subject of sources, I learned from the Glamorgan mailing list that the IGI section on the FamilySearch Web pages has been enhanced - see details below. James This was copied from the Family Search website. Thanks to the Manchester Mailing List and the List Owners E & W for this information. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Updated International Genealogical Index of the International Genealogical Index is now available on the FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service (FamilySearch Internet). This new version contains the following enhancements: * More Names. More names have been added to the index. These names were received since the last release in January 2000. * Regular updates. The index will be updated as new information is received. Note: There are no current plans to update the International Genealogical Index on compact disc. * Individuals linked into families. Some individuals are linked into families and can be displayed on family groups and pedigree charts. The number of linked individuals is relatively small but is expected to grow significantly in the future. You can also download family group records and pedigree charts. * Additional event information. All events that were in original user submissions are now displayed and can be used as search criteria. * Improved searching. You can now search the index by given name, surname and state, and more types of events, even across regions. The processes used to find individuals in spite of spelling and other differences in the name have also been improved. * Information to describe the source. When you display an individual¹s records, you will see messages that describe the source of the information.
Hello all, I've updated the "Lovelocks Alive 2004" Web page to include some pretty photos of the Bear and the canal (courtesy of John Lovelock) and a street plan, all sent to me by Jeremy Lovelock. Regards, James
Back again ....... In some off-list correspondence I have speculated with Sian as to where other records on Frederick John might be found. There is no parish of Chelworth, and looking at the map I would guess that if he was baptised it would either be in Crudwell or Oaksey. We have no data on the Website from either parish. HOWEVER, .... some recent perusing of the 1881 Census data courtesy of the LDS turned up the following two records: Source Information: Dwelling The Street Census Place Oaksey, Wiltshire, England Family History Library Film 1341488 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 2025 / 29 Page Number 7 Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation John LOVELOCK Head M Male 50 Oaksey, Wiltshire, England Carpenter Mary A. After my last visit to the Trowbridge office I certainly have no intention of returning there this week, but anyone braver than me, or with alternative access to records might like to volunteer to do a search of Oaksey and Crudwell? Good evening all. This is just to let any of you know who have not yet discovered it that the FreeCen site went live recently. Its address is: http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl The data will be drawn from the 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, and 1891 Census Returns. At present they only have LOVELOCK data in their 1891 records, and I have extracted all this (a mere 10 records) and sent it to James, for eventual inclusion, perhaps, on the Website. We will obviously need to keep a watching brief on this resource as it grows, but you may find other non-Lovelock data on there which will help your researches. Happy hunting! Regards Graham
Many thanks to all who have been helping me find the birthplace of Frederick John. I now have his birth certificate and he was born in Chelworth. Registration District Malmesbury. Whilst I was in hospital I had an email from Paul asking if Frederick might be linked to his ancestors from Shipton Mallet. As my son deleted the email before I got home I have been unable to reply. If you would get in touch again Paul I can email you. You must be thinking me very rude! Graham who has been so helpful thinks this maybe a new line. I have booked The Bear and am looking forward to meeting more of the family next year. Sincerely Sian
Hello Loveys I have been reading for a while now and quickly came to the conclusion that I was not part of your Lovelock branch but greatly enjoyed reading the news as it came. My father, Steve Lovelock was born in South Leyton, Essex - 1904 His father, William Lovelock was born in Stoke Newington - 1867 His father Thomas Lovelock was born in Stafford - 1843, according to the 1881 census. Does anyone in the group know of anyone researching this line? I would appreciate a pointer as I am having a difficult time finding information. Thank you. Mike Lovelock
Well done Graham!! What tenacity in that heat!! I guess the family 'rumour' re Malmesbury was not correct. But the negative searches are still a useful addition to our knowledge. I think Sian will really have to try and locate the marriage certificate of Frederick John Lovelock and Eliza Jane Tillman. Since Frederick William is the eldest, it would be logical to start looking at the GRO indexes from the date of his birth and work backwards. Hopefully they had their first born within a few years of their marriage. To save the cost of obtaining too many certificates, once she finds a likely marriage, she can check the volume and folio numbers for the same year and quarter for Elizabeth Jane Tillman. If they match, there's an excellent change that she's found the right marriage. Then she can order the certificate. That's what I'd do anyway. What do the rest of you think? As it happened, I was able to visit the Record Office at Trowbridge late yesterday, wherein the temperature under that metal roof must have been approaching 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and check out a few records. I checked the Baptisms for Malmesbury (the Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul) from 7 June 1838 to 27 April 1879 and found NO LOVELOCK entries. On the off-chance that Sian's great-grandfather-in-law haled from around Malmesbury rather than in it I also checked the following for LOVELOCK Baptisms, and again found NO entries: Easton Grey : 11 Aug 1850 to 01 May 1892 Great Somerford : 27 Jan 1867 to 06 Jun 1880 Little Somerford: 31 Mar 1861 to 23 Sep 1877 Hullavington : 05 Feb 1860 to 21 Sep 1879 Westport St Mary : 06 Oct 1867 to 04 May 1873 Charlton St Peter : 07 Jan 1869 to 28 Oct 1888 Stanton St Quintin : 02 Aug 1869 to 29 Mar 1883 James - you may wish to add the above to the "No findings" part of the Wiltshire Sources Page? I wonder where to suggest Sian might look next?
