    1. Re: {not a subscriber} Possible Additions to Lieflock line
    2. James Loveluck
    3. No-one seems to have objected to Robert's proposals, so I've entered them in my database and they will eventually get into updates of the Lieflock line and the gedcom file. No. 10 was already included in my data, following discussion with Graham. One that Robert seems to have missed is the following burial in East Grafton: 1846 Feb 16 Elizabeth Lovelock, East Grafton, aged 13 months This is presumably Elizabeth L, bap 1845 Jan 15, illegitimate dau. of Charlotte Lovelock, referred to in Robert's No. 2 Regards, James Robert Sterry wrote: >Greetings all > >Hope you all had a very happy Easter break. > >I have recently been cross referencing all current entries in the Lieflock >line with known baptisms, marriages and burials as collated in the Lovelocks >in Wiltshire and Berkshire (Lovelocks by parish). > >This process of course leaves a lot of currently unplaced entries that may >now we can try to place. 1. Proposed new format for Web pages
    2. James Loveluck
    3. Hello all, I'm not sure how happy people are with the current navigation menu for the Lovelock Web pages, and I've been playing around with other techniques, which don't involve "frames", the use of which has some disadvantages (e.g. that it reduces the size of the page content). The style I've been looking at uses javascript, as did the previous design, so it should be fairly fast. However, it has just a single menu bar at the top of the page for the main sections, with drop down menus for the sub-sections. I'm not yet committed to switching over to this new layout, and before making a decision I'd like to get your feedback as to whether you find it an improvement or not. I've converted quite a lot of the Web pages to this new format, and you can access them at: http://perso.numericable.fr/~lovjames/family-history/test/ In order not to use up too much extra space, I've only included html files, so links to images, Excel files, Word files, PDF files and gedcom files will not work, and neither will the links to the Ahn Java applet. Otherwise, most links should work correctly and there should be enough material to give you an idea of the proposed new design. Please let me have your feedback on the proposed new layout as soon as possible. James

    2. James Loveluck
    3. Hello all, I've made some minor changes concerning the search tools available on the Web site: - On my home page (http://perso.numericable.fr/~lovjames/) with the PicoSearch tool you can now choose to search the whole site, just the LovelOck pages, or just the LovelUck pages - I've added the PicoSearch utility to the search pages on both the Lovelock and Loveluck sites (previously only the HouseSpider utility was available on thse pages). In this case the search covers just the relevant pages (Lovelock or Loveluck). - I've updated the index files for both utilities. This means that they should pick up recently added informaiton James

    2. John Lovelock
    3. Hello Robin I understand from Joy Lovelock that the item was broadcast at 4pm on Tuesday 15th June. The film crew were based at Meridian's Newbury Office so I can only assume that it was only broadcast to viewers in West Berkshire/North Hampshire. The Librarian at the Studios may be able to provide you with a copy of the tape. Let me know if you are interested and I will look up the number provided by the Reporter. Exactly the same the next day, Tuesday - 4pm, no Lovelocks. I'm not a regular viewer so 'gave up' after that. 1. Re: Addresses
    2. Bryfiero
    3. Right, Jeremy I was curious about the actual address of the cottage. Is it 232 Grafton Road? I noticed that in 1891 Elijah (& George's) father William b 1811 per census record is living at 250 The Green, Marten Rd, East Grafton. Would that be in the vacinity? Listed as a widower & living alone. William & Lucy appear in every census as being at The Green. I am planning to go to find this location, also an address is given for George & wife Sarah, when my great grandfather Joseph is 5, as living at Primate House, Great Bedwyn. There is a post code RG11 1274 F40 P20 - would this be a map reading? Unfortunately there is no street address given for William's father Thomas & his wife Sarah (nee Dudman) Yet it is interesting to see how daughter Charlotte (left by her Husband) resides with them, with her children. Plus in 1851 Sarah's (presumably) brother Jonathan is listed as a lodger. Regards Ruth ----- Original Message ----- From: Jeremy Lovelock To: Bryfiero Sent: Tuesday, June 29, 2004 9:00 PM Subject: Re: Amendment See Photo Hello I have reread your letter and did not reply to one of your questions. The cottage shown on the photo on the website taken in about 1997 was of Elijah(b.Dec 1851) from East Grafton. It was posted on the website early this year. There may have been other pictures taken at the gathering or around that time that are now on the website. It should have a caption on it saying it was Elijah's cottage. Best wishes Jeremy ----- Original Message ----- From: Bryfiero To: Jeremy Lovelock Sent: Saturday, June 19, 2004 7:57 AM Subject: Amendment See Photo Dear Jeremy My party thoroughly enjoyed the Gathering. We are planning an extra excursion of our own now to Preshute & Burbage! Anyway the reason to email is a correction to the info on Annie Matilda Lovelock (nee Almond) Born 1875 but died Sept 1949 (not 1940) I am attaching a photo of the monument inscription which also states that she was aged 74. Am I right that your ancestor was Elijah, (1851-1945) the sexton at East Grafton, son of William & Lucy? Is that his cottage photo?

    2. James Loveluck
    3. Hello all, I've now uploaded to the Web site about 200 more photos of the "Lovelocks Alive 2004" event. These were sent to me by Jeremy Lovelock on a CD-ROM. I'm not sure who took all the pictures, but some were by Anthony Hill, some by Jeremy himself. The photos are on 3 web pages which are linked to the "Lovelock Gathering" page and to the "What's New" page. I haven't made any attempt to provide captions describing who is present in each photo. Anyone who wants to put names to faces is welcome to do so! The images take up quite a bit of disk space (about 10MB) so I may not keep them on the Web site for too long. If any of the photos are of interest to you please download them. Regards, James

    3. I understand from Joy Lovelock that Meridian Television ( which broadcasts to Hampshire, West Berkshire and parts of Dorset ) included an item on our event in their Local News broadcast at 4pm on Tuesday 15th June. Joy has kept a video recording. It includes interviews with myself, Heidi Lovelock, Joy Lovelock, Vaughan Lovelock and Robert Sterry. The opening scene is the group assembled on 'Bear Island' , the riverside terrace and James Loveluck speaking to the multitude inside the Riverside Suite. The film ends with the party arriving at Great Bedwyn and scenes of the churchyard. Best Wishes John Lovelock Hedgerley Buckinghamshire

    2. James Loveluck
    3. Hello all, Following the announcement made at the Lovelocks Alive 2004 event, I've updated quite a lot of material on the Lovelock Web site. You'll find the details in the "What's New" file, but here is a summary: - Continued the work begun by Robert in falgging ssome of the Lovelock lines. Now flagged the Lyneham Line (Ly) and one of the Hampshire Lines (HL) corresponding to "Fragment 10" - Updated the Berks. Lovelocks gedcom file with a new one provided by Robert - Updated Fragment 10 with additional material from Graham L. - Updated the Wilts/Lieflock Lovelock gedcom with a number of additions and corrections. Details can be found on the "Lovelock gedcom files" page - Updated the Berkshire Lovelocks descendant tree to correspond with the new version of the gedcom file. This is now linked to a new page under "Trees and Fragments" called "Berks Trees & Fragments" - Updated Fragment 15 (the Lyneham Line) in the "Lovelock Fragments" with new material from Sue Lovelock linking the Lyneham Lovelocks to fragments from Bishops Cannings, Etchilhampton and Wroughton - Extended the Ahn applet browsing of gedcom files to the Berks Lovelocks and updated the Lieflock/Wilts one to the latest gedcom file. This involved updating quite a lot of files, and its more than likely that some errors have crept in, so please let me know if you notice anything amiss. James

    3. My 3 x great grandparents were Sophia LOVELOCK and James HUNT.They were married on 14 August 1814 at Broad Hinton,Wiltshire.Witnesses to their marriage were James and Edward LOVELOCK.On the 1841 census Sophia HUNT (nee LOVELOCK) said that she had been born in Wiltshire.Sophia's age on the 1841 census is 45 but when she died on 26 October 1841 her age is shown as 54 and if this is correct her year of birth would be 1787.I have been unable to find any record of her baptism in Broad Hinton. There is a baptism for a Sophia LOVELOCK on 14 January 1787 at Wroughton. She is the daughter of Thomas and Mary LOVELOCK.Two of her brothers were James and Edward. Is anybody researching the descendants of Thomas and Mary LOVELOCK of Wroughton,or anybody researching the descandants of Sophia nee LOVELOCK and James HUNT of Broad Hinton? Robyn Kinney New Zealand

    3. Hello all, I've updated two files on the Web site: - Lovelocks in Berkshire by Parish (Sources -> Berkshire) - Lovelocks in Wiltshire by Parish (Sources -> Wiltshire) These correspond to the latest versions provided by Robert Sterry, which include new codes (L and B) to show what events have been entered so far from these counties on either the Lieflock or Berkshire Lovelock lines. Some unnecessary duplication has also been eliminated and a few corrections made following consultaiton between Robert and Graham L. As usual I've eliminated records for potentially living individuals (baptisms after 1904 and marriages after 1924) but if you want the unexpurgated file just send a note to Robert or myself.
