    1. Lesley Lovelock
    2. Jeremy Lovelock
    3. Hello all The Guardian newspaper researcher has found Lesley by another way and spoken with her today. We did not disclose her details but we were able to trace who she was through the help of Yann Lovelock. From what Mr Burkeman tells me, she may not wish her details to be made public. Thanks for your help. Jeremy Lovelock

    3. Hello all, I've updated the Shaw cum Donington Tree (Berks) <http://perso.numericable.fr/%7Elovjames/family-history/lovelock/fragments/shaw-cum-donnington-tree.html> on the Web site, and added a corresponding gedcom file to the gedcoms page <http://perso.numericable.fr/%7Elovjames/family-history/lovelock/gedcom.htm>. Hopefully this completes the process begun earlier this year (see the "What's New" entry for 12-Jul-05) of merging material on this line provided by John Lewis, Nigel Gerdes and Graham Lovelock. The notes which previously accompanied the descendant tree have now been included in the gedcom file, which also includes details of source references, etc. Many thanks to John, Nigel and Graham for providing the original material. 3. Hi, Jeremy, Lesley was at our 2004 event. I remember talking to her about the M25 protest as being Lovelock led and she told me that was her. She probably has a different married name, but if you (or whoever has it) go through the guest list it shouldn't be difficult to find her. 2. Jeremy ....there is the following recent Press reference to the delightfully -alliteratively-named Lesley lovelock: ""Retail Week September 2, 2005 "In an attempt to rebuild the 11-store chain's fortunes, Kurt Geiger Carvela buyer Lesley Lovelock has been drafted in as Shellys buying director. Lovelock, who has more than 20 years' experience at the shoe brand, is tasked with setting Shellys apart from its rivals, in an increasingly crowded fashion footwear market. The chain was bought by Stylo in 2003 for £1.5 million and was to be run as a separate business with up to 20 stores."" So your enquirer could try contacting her at Shelly's Footwear People with alliterative names always do well ! Steve Tanner

    2. James Loveluck
    3. Hello all, I've updated the Hampshire-Suffolk-Rutland-Herefordshire tree <http://perso.numericable.fr/%7Elovjames/family-history/lovelock/wip/hants-to-hereford.html> on the Web site to the latest version provided by Graham Lovelock on 13-Oct-05. My apologies to Graham for taking so long to upload the new version to the Web site! Some of the new material in this tree was obtained by Graham in collaboration with Liz Summerson, who is a great neice of the Arthur Frederick Lovelock in this fragment. Graham points out that the new material includes a link to Winchester and that it's quite likely that this connection could be enriched if someone were to do some basic research of Winchester parish records (in particular for St Thomas') - we currently only have two Lovelock baptisms for Winchester in the "Lovelocks in Hants" file, although there are several marriages and burials. 2. James Loveluck
    3. Hello all, During the past few months I've made a number of minor changes to the Wiltshire (and beyond) Lovelocks database, almost all related to the Lieflock Line. I've now uploaded a new version of corresponding gedcom file to the Web site, together with the corresponding Lieflock Line descendant Tree. There are also revised versions of the 1851 and 1861 census extracts for Wiltshire, which include corrected versions of the census entries for Kezia (Eliza) Lovelock and family. Details and pointers to the updated files can be found on the What's New <http://perso.numericable.fr/%7Elovjames/family-history/lovelock/new.html> page. Because there were a lot of small changes I separated the details into a separate file, and there is a pointer to this file on the What's New <http://perso.numericable.fr/%7Elovjames/family-history/lovelock/new.html> page. Many thanks to Robin Lovelock, Graham Lovelock and Adam Blackman who provided contributions to these updates. James

Begin forwarded message: Date: Tue, 11 Oct 2005 02:26:51 +0100 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re Your July Rootsweb Thomas & Sarah Lovelock, Crookham contribution Hi John, I have just subscribed to the Rootsweb List, but haven't figured how I can answer your July posting about Thomas and Sarah Lovelock, Crookham/Brimpton, on the site. I'm pretty certain I'm related to Thomas and Sarah through their daughter, Ann, baptised 15 May 1823 in Brimpton. I believe her to be my ggg grandmother. I have her marriage certificate, which gives her father's name & occupation as Thomas, Labourer. In all her census entries between 1861 and 1901, her birthplace is given as Brimpton, and the ages that are given also fits. She married Henry White in 1848 on Dec. 25 in Thatcham. I can tell you details of their children etc. I also have both Thomas and Sarah's General Register Office death certificates, confirming the ages you have seen given for their deaths - Thomas died 20 July, 1839 at the age of 64 and Sarah died 14 March 1846. There was an inquest for Thomas' death, as he died accidentally - so perhaps that could be a route to finding out more about him. His death was not registered until January, 1840 - presumably because of the Inquest. I have searched through the Lovelock marriages on the Lovelocks in Berkshire & Hampshire pages and wondered about Thomas Lovelock of Wadhurst, Surrey and Sarah Gadsby by licence in Shaw cum Donington St Mary the Virgin on Nov 6 1813, making their first child two months before they got married. (Your suggestion does look more likely, but there may be other possibilities as well). I am struck by the age difference of Thomas and Sarah (8 years) and wonder about the possibility that this was a second marriage for Thomas. He would have been 30 when he got married if your 1805 marriage date is correct and if the the Brimpton burial information (& death certificate ages) are correct - as well as being 35 when the first Brimpton child was born in 1813. All the best, Colm O'Hanrahan -- John Lewis, Debian GNU/Linux and GeneWeb genealogy software

Adverts for them appear in The Times during the 1890's (for example 06 Feb 1893) usually as appointed liquidators. There is also a company called Messrs Lovelock, W. H. S. Whiffin and Dickinson of Coleman St, London who were appointed to be the accountants of the Imperial Institute (in London) reported in The Times on 03 July 1888. The two sets of accountants may well be linked. Hope this helps, Regards, Nigel Gerdes

Can I suggest this mobile family from the 1851 census might be worth following up? The son Thomas born ca 1840 at Tamworth, Staffordshire could be one and the same. There are so few Lovelocks in the Midlands at this time - it just might be correct. The PRs for Anslow or Newborough would be a good starting point for the marriage of Thomas and Elizabeth ca 1835 if Robert is their first child.
