Stephen, I have James P Loveless b Sep 1865 in Lauderdale Co TN, d ca 1936 Lauderdale Co TN m Nancy Jane Beasley Mar 1885 she was b Jan 1867 TN, d Sep 5, 1934 Lauderdale Co TN They had 8 children of whom Robert Lee was the oldest. Actually, Laura Gaither said they had seven children, but there may have been a daughter who married a Kasper Saunderman, but possibly died young. James was the son of Simon K Loveless b Mar 16, 1838, Lauderdale Co AL, d 1928 Dyer TN married Nancy Ann Jones Mar 19, 1862 in Lauderdale Co TN she was born ca 1858 in TN, but I don't have her death date. I show they had seven children, James Pugh being the second born, but oldest son. Simon was the son of Francis Loveless b Oct 13, 1793 Newberry Dist SC and d 1870 in TN married Elizabeth who surname was probably HIPP. She was born Jun 6, 1800 in SC, I don't have her death information. They had eleven children of whom Simon was the eighth child. Francis was the son of Hazel Lovelace born Mar 31, 1766 in Frederick Co MD, d Jul 30, 1838 in Newberry Dist SC. The name of his wife in unknown to me. They had eleven children of whom Francis was the 4th born. Hazel was the son of Joseph Lovelace bon ca 1732 Charles Co MD and d bef 1790 in Rowan Co NC. He married Sarah Robey ca 1765 in Frederick Co MD. She was born ca 1750 and I think she died in SC sometime after 1840. I believe that she is found in the households of her sons prior to that date according to census records. I think Joseph and Sarah had five sons and perhaps a daughter, but Hazel is the only one found in church records in MD. And now we get to the uncertain parts of our ancestry. Like our Benjamin, we don't know for sure who the father of Joseph is. I tend to believe that perhaps Joseph was actually a brother of my Benjamin (who was the father of Barton). It appears possible that the father of Joseph and Benjamin may have died before the sons were grown and I've narrowed the possibilities of who that might have been to a Samuel who seems to disappear from the records in MD in about 1745 and a Benjamin who seems to disappear from the records after 1737. I have found nothing that can prove any of that. Based on the fact that both Benjamin and Joseph lived near and went to the same church as John Baptist Lovelace, and based on DNA, they were cousins (records prove they weren't brothers) but perhaps they were even raised with JBL. When these folks left MD we find that JBL's kids and Joseph and his kids end up in Rowan Co NC where we also think our Barton (Benjamin's son) was headed before he got waylaid by the problem of horse theft and disappears from records for another twelve years. I'm putting all my research into one very tiny nutshell, but maybe this will help you fill in some gaps. Lou Ann
