Cynthia "Cindy," a precious and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home into the arms of Jesus with her family by her side at Carpenter House on May 8, 2015. She celebrated Mother's Day with her Mom in heaven. Cynthia was born on August 28, 1942, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The family will have a memorial service for Cynthia on May 21, 2015, at Fellowship Church, 14363 LA Hwy. 73 in Prairieville, LA. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm till 7:00 p.m with a service at 7:00 p.m. Cynthia was a 1960 graduate of Istrouma High School. She retired from The Louisiana Municipal Policeman's Retirement System, to enjoy time with her four grandsons and granddaughter. Cynthia was an incredible grandmother, who loved all of her grandchildren unconditionally. Her heart was always so full of love and support for all members of her family. She is survived by her husband Ralph "Bozo" Himel, Sr.; her sons Dirk Fairchild and his wife Tannie and their sons, Levin, Jace, and Brandt, all of Gonzales; her son Bard Fairchild, and his children, Brayden and Bari Fairchild Sonnier; her sister and best friend, Jerrine Rowell, and brother-in law whom she always considered her brother, Dave Rowell; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nanarea McCarthy; sister, Kathleen McCarthy Barrilleaux; grandson, Layton Jude Fairchild; nieces, Sindee Barrilleaux Birdsall, Larryce Loveless Pace and Gresha Samaha and Lisa Barrilleaux; her maternal grandparents, Henry and Nan Thompson and paternal grandparents, William and Mary McCarthy of New Bedford, Ma. The family would like to thank her doctor, Dr. Ryan Shows; the nurses and doctors at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Mary Bird Perkins; and especially the wonderful nurses and aides who took such tender care of our love one at Carpenter House.
