There was a reunion on May 16, 2015 in Crofton MD of the descendants of James and Emma Loveless Riddle. There were grandchildren and great grandchildren of 8 of James and Emma's 11 children. There was also a descendant of James C. Loveless ,Emma's brother present. It was wonderful to meet and speak to a lot of these cousins we did not even know of. We hope to do this again and hopefully find even more cousins to attend. Emma Frances Loveless Riddle was the daughter of James H Loveless b. 1825 and granddaughter of James H. Loveless b. 1792. The elder James is as far back as I can go with sources. James b. 1792 had at least 12 children with two wives. I have the will which names the children. His first wife is unknown. She had four children : Elisha, Harriet, John and James . The second wife was Sarah Mangum and she had 8 more children. There has been some controversy regarding the elder James b. 1792 and the identity of his first wife.. It seems that a researcher some time ago (do not know who) assigned the name Henderson to the H. in James' name. This happened because a marriage was listed for a Henderson Loveless and Mary Ann Jones. The date was 1815 which fit so nicely with the birth of James' first son Elisha in 1818. However, a cousin who is a descendant of Elisha Loveless found documents proving that Henderson Loveless who married Mary Ann Jones was in fact Thomas Henderson Loveless . Both names, Henderson and Thomas Henderson were used in the documents. Thomas Henderson Loveless died in 1831. My ancestor James H. b. 1792 died in 1872. It is possible that Thomas and James were brothers. The son of James who was born in 1832 (the year after Thomas died) was named Thomas H. Loveless. He was the first child of James and Sarah Mangum. The identity of the first wife is unknown. Some years ago, Terry White and David Wilson helped me decipher the will of James H. born 1792. I will try to get that on our Lovelace website.
