Betty Crowley Hinkle, 81, of Syracuse passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday. Born in Oneida, NY she was a long time Syracuse resident. Betty was a member of Trinity Baptist Church actively involved in their music program using her special gifts of singing and playing the piano by ear. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and enjoyed shopping, crafts and flower arranging. She was predeceased by her daughter, Irene Loveless; and four brothers, Bud, Joseph, Gerald and Arthur Menzer. Survived by her husband, Norman Hinkle; six children, Carol Barnello of Minoa, Joseph (Elaine) Sgroi of Utica, Matthew Sqroi of Camillus, Lorraine (Stuart) Shimer of Canastota, Jeffery (Tamara) Crowley of Camillus, Paulette (Allen) Crowley-Gilberti; four stepchildren, Carol Erickson, David Hinkle, Mary Valligny, and Robert Hinkle; and twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; three siblings, Janet Hilts of Canastota, Dolly Gamble of Cortland and Bonnie Menzer of Canastota. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday, May 14 at 10 a.m. in the Trinity Baptist Church, Airport Road with Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
