First, I want to say to Lou Ann that thoughts and prayers are headed your way from California. I ordinarily wouldn't wish a dry spell on anyone, but if I could tear off a big chunk of California's rainless skies and relocate that piece to Oklahoma, I would do so in a flash. All you people there and further south in Texas need some relief, and you need it fast. To Greg's request, I thought I had posted this when I came across it in February, but perhaps not. I can't find a posting in my email store. http://www.hmdb.org/Photos1/195/Photo195343o.jpg That's the grave marker for my 3G Grandfather, Seborn Loveless (whose given name I had spelled Seaborn until this monument turned up), 1807-1841. This stone is in the cemetery of Ruhamah Methodist Church in Holland Store in Anderson District SC just a couple of miles from the Georgia border. This particular stone was erected by his daughter Mary several years after his death, perhaps in the late 1860s. Mary was not even three years old when he died. After his death, his widow and two children are found near Lou Ann's Lovelesses in Cherokee County GA and eventually in Cullman County AL. There are some long complicated stories to go with that connection, but I won't go into them at this time. Seborn was a grandson of Barton the Horse Thief through Barton's little known son Samuel, which connects him to a lot of people on this list. Went out to the cemetery yesterday during a lull in the rain and gave my granddaughters a brief history of all our Loveless family buried there. My grandfather was the caretaker of the family. He had bought a bunch of cemetery lots and when family died, invariably they went to my grandpa to get a lot from him, so a huge number of our family are all in close proximity in the cemetery, Great grandparents, great aunts and uncles and cousins, etc. Lou Ann ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Just a note to those interested in the Oklahoma/Texas weather... Some of us have gone through a 5 year drought here in Oklahoma. We have been praying for rain for a long time. Be careful what you pray for!
