October 2, 1933 - May 17, 2015 Barbara Van Poppelen of San Antonio, TX, born on October 2, 1933, passed away May 17, 2015, at the age of 81. Barbara was in education for 32 years, 16 of which were spent teaching 4th-6th grade at Coronado Village Elementary. She loved the Spurs and was a season ticket holder for 13 years. She also loved her dog, Tracker, who will miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Van Poppelen, her parents, James and Lera Crenshaw, and her brother, Jimmie Crenshaw. Barbara is survived by her daughter Jon Van Poppelen; her sister, Judy Lovelace; sister in law, Peggy Crenshaw; nieces Jody Hillenbrand (Scott) and Tanya Glover (Rube); great nephews Will Hillenbrand and Rube Glover, III. A visitation will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, from 4:00PM - 7:00PM, at the Schertz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, at 2:30PM, at the Schertz Funeral Home, Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
