Taylor, Alan C. Beaufort, SC: Passed away at his home on April 15, 2015 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was 75 years old. He moved to S.C. in 2013 from Canandaigua, New York. He is survived by his wife Gwen, son Robert (Jodi) Taylor, granddaughter Morgan Taylor, brothers Russell Taylor and Wayne (Deb )Taylor, sister Carol Irwin, and step sons Scot (Carla) Loveless and Howard (Kelli) Loveless. He was predeceased by his parents Ellis and Leona Taylor and step daughter Debra O'Donnell. Alan was born in Walton, NY on November 9, 1939. He graduated from Walton Central School, State University of Delhi and the Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY. He also attended Syracuse University. He first joined the U.S. Army Reserves but went on to serve in both the reserves and on active duty for over 35 years. He retired in 1999 with the rank of Colonel. Outside of his military career, Alan worked for GLF, Agway, Butler Buildings, had his own agricultural supply company, and later was a loan officer for several mortgage companies in the Rochester, NY area. After retiring from the military he started a home inspection business, Advanced Building Inspections. He fully retired in 2013 with his move to S.C. Alan enjoyed traveling around the U.S. with family and friends, most of the time in his motor home, but also enjoyed cruises and tours from Alaska to the Caribbean. A favorite pastime was getting away to his workshop to create things for around his home and yard. He was also very tolerant of all the homeless animals his wife brought home. Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Beaufort S.C. with a graveside service and full military honors. The service will be on April 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
