BLANCHARD, Malan Malan Clark Blanchard, a resident of Bent Tree in Jasper, Georgia passed away Monday, January 12, 2015. Born on July 25, 1940 in Huntington, WV, he was the son of the late Campbell Price and Louise Clark Blanchard. Through most of his childhood he was raised by his grandparents, the late Malan Hale and Mollie Kingery Clark. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Lovelace. Mr. Blanchard was a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, WV with a civil engineering degree. Upon graduation, he served in the US Army Corps of Engineers at Ft Lewis, Washington and Viet Nam. Upon returning from Viet Nam, he was an engineering project manager with three federal agencies: US Corps of Engineers, Economic Development Administration and Air Force Regional Civil Engineers. He was a member of Jasper United Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Joan Corrie Blanchard, from Charleston, WV; son, Richard Clark Blanchard, son, Jeffrey Kenneth Blanchard (wife Candace Shultz Blanchard); and daughter, Julie Catherine Blanchard Dowd (husband Kenneth McGregor Dowd), grandchildren; Jaclyn, Jackson, Maddie and Brooke and cousins and nephews. He and his wife lived in Decatur, GA from 1972 to 1999 and retired to Jasper, GA. Malan enjoyed golf, traveling, volunteer activities and time with family.
