There is a World War I Draft Registration record for John Griffin Lovelace, dated 13 Sep 1918, in which John lists his nearest relative as Lulu Lovelace. John registered for the draft at his local draft board in Union County, South Carolina. John Griffin gives his date of birth as 10 Dec 1883.
