KingOctober 4, 1928 - January 14, 2015 OKLAHOMA CITY George, 86, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 14, 2015. The son of Jasper & Ruby King, George was born Oct. 4, 1928 in Tupelo, OK. He retired from Capitol Steel & Iron Co., where he worked as an iron worker for more than 37 years, and was a longtime member of the Iron Workers Union #48 & a Mason. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, fishing & woodworking. George had a heart for the Lord. He enjoyed worshipping at Shields Blvd. Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon for many years. He served the Lord & others by cooking at Falls Creek Children's & Youth Camps for many summers & his church for numerous years. He was a loving husband and devoted father. George also had a special love for all of his grandkids and was lovingly known as "Papa". He will be deeply missed. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Imogene King, in 2002. He leaves behind his loving children: Vicki Russell & husband, Bill, and Randy King & wife, Rhonda, all of OKC; siblings: Robert King & wife, Carolyn, and Tommie Hair, all of Shawnee, OK; grandchildren: Mindy Kennedy & husband, Jon, Bill Alan Russell & wife, Lindsay, and Emily Lovelace & husband, Brandon; great grandchildren: Logan Kennedy, Tyler Russell, Graceyn Kennedy, Landon Kennedy, Saige Russell, and Baby Lovelace, arriving in July 2015, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Viewing will be 4-8 PM Friday at Vondel Smith Mortuary, S. Western. Services to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at the South Colonial Chapel.
