    3. Dorothy Norton 1919 ~ 2015 Dorothy Norton, 95, of Boise, died peacefully Monday, March 17, 2015. Dorothy was born October 25, 1919 in Oelwein, Iowa. She was an only child and at the age of six moved with her parents to pre-Disney Anaheim, California, which at the time she considered a paradise. In 1945, at the age of 26 Dorothy married Ray, the love of her life. They spent several carefree years together as Ray worked up and down the state of California. They eventually settled in Eugene, Oregon. At the age of 39, Dorothy was surprised and delighted to learn she was pregnant with their first child, a son. Eighteen months later, they were blessed once again, this time with a daughter. The son was a surprise; the daughter was downright shocking. Dorothy often remarked having her children later in life kept her young. Dorothy had a long career in banking. She began as a bookkeeper in California, and when they moved to Oregon, she worked for First National Bank of Eugene. In 1980, they moved to Boise where Dorothy continued her banking career as a loan officer at Bank of Idaho, which is now Wells Fargo. She retired in 1983 and, together with Ray, became a snowbird, spending six months of each year in Yuma, Arizona. They enjoyed nearly 20 winters in Arizona, making many friends along the way. During their summers in Idaho, they spent much of their time at Cascade Lake with their life-long friends, Dick and Norma Ellison. Dorothy was one talented lady and her home was filled with her handy work. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing many of her own clothes over the years. She was accomplished at all types of needlework, including hand quilting, needlepoint, cross stitching, knitting, crocheting. She was also a talented tole painter. She shared her many talents by making gifts for her family and friends. After 60 wonderful years of marriage, Ray passed away in 2005. Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Rob Norton of Issaquah, Washington, daughter and son-in-law Jane and Ron Mowry of Boise, and grandchildren Jillian Loveless (Nick) and Matt Mowry, also of Boise. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother who was very proud of her family. She also cherished the many friends she made over the years and often commented how truly blessed she had been to have lived such a long full life. We will love and miss you forever Gram! A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Summers Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel, 3629 E. Ustick Rd., Meridian.
