September 21,1936 - March 3, 2015 Carol Hodo McCarty, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on March 3rd, 2015 at the age of 78. Carol McCarty, daughter of John Mark Hodo and Mitylene Yates Hodo, was one of three children. She is survived by her five children: Mittie McCarty, Bill McCarty, Eve Short, Paige McCarty, and Kevin McCarty. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Bill McCarty, Mark McCarty, Rebecca Loveless, Matthew Short, Giulia Mugnaini, Caroline Short, William McCarty, and Isabella McCarty. Carol's hilarious personality, constant selflessness, and deep love for God will be greatly missed by her family and friends. "Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly it glowed." The family will receive friends at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 7th, 2015, at Ridout's Valley Chapel, Oxmoor Rd in Homewood. Service will follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel.
