George Pittinger George Thomas Pittinger, of Kent, passed away on February 28, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. George was born on January 24, 1938 to Fred and Mary Pittinger. He attended St. Mary Elementary and High School. In 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Kent State University and married the love of his life, Claudia Montoni, on July 22, 1961. He was the co-owner of Montoni's Pizza. He was retired but enjoyed working at the Kent State University Golf Course where he was an avid golfer. He was a member of St. Patrick Church and an usher at the 7:30 mass. George was a member of the Kent Lions Club and an avid Notre Dame Football Fan. He loved Notre Dame and in 2003 he became an usher for the team. He was an on Field Usher and was the liaison for the visiting team's band and cheerleaders. In addition to his wife, Claudia, he is survived by his six children, Jacquelyn Pittinger-Lovelace, Michele (Bryan) Adams, Michael, Jerry (Catherine), Joseph (special friend Dawn Pamer), and Thomas (Bridget). He has thirteen grandchildren, Lindsay (Greg) Walker, Vincent (Tegan) Pittinger, Christopher (Alisha) Pittinger, Nicole (Bryan) Rocks, Lauren Pittinger, Julie Pittinger, Sean Pittinger, Marika Pittinger, Jessica Pittinger, Thomas Lovelace, Alexandra Pittinger, Tyler Lovelace and Anthony Pittinger. He also had seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Delores Montoni Stamm Orcutt. He will also be missed by the Tuesday Night Golf Group. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arlene; and brothers, Arthur and Fred Jr. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 2nd (TODAY) at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main Street, Kent. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 3rd at 10 a.m. at Saint Patrick Church, 313 N. Depeyster Street, Kent, with the Reverend Richard Pentello officiating.
