Obituary Picture appears to be a African-American Governor L. Johnson 1937 - 2015 Rev. Elder Governor L. Johnson, 77, of Racine passed away peacefully at his residence with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2015. Governor was born on Dec. 24, 1937, in Fordyce, Ark., the son of the late Joseph A. and Lummie (Marks) Johnson. He was educated in Washington Middle School and graduated from Kenosha High School. He furthered his education at Gateway Technical College, UW-Parkside and Cardinal Stritch University. He married Betty Wright on May 27, 1958, in Kenosha, they later divorced. Prior to College he served in the United States Marine Corps and also served in the National Guard, and was honorably discharged. Governor was employed as Director of Personal at Young Radiator-Westinghouse in Racine. He went on to obtain many managerial positions in prominent company's and was the key person in making historical landmarks for other people in their professional careers. His hobbies included studying the Holy Bible, preaching the word of the Jesus Christ, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his ex-wife Betty; children, Audrey Lovelace, April Johnson, all of Kenosha, and Adrian (Sheryl) Johnson of Milwaukee; brothers, Frank and Terry Bankhead; sisters, Joan Bankhead and Josephine Davis; 10 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Governor was preceded in death by a daughter Desiree Lynn; son Brent Adair; sister Alma Byrd; and brother Kenny. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Greater Mt. Hebron Church of God in Christ, 7445-20th Avenue Kenosha, WI 53143, from 9 to 10 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 10 a.m. A repast luncheon will immediately follow the service in the church hall.
