ELDRED, Pa. - Robert L. Kontz Sr., 83, of Main Street, passed away Monday (Feb. 16, 2015) at his residence following a long illness.He was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Williamsport.On May 9, 1981, in Coudersport, he married Janet L. Loveless, who survives. He had attended Williamsport area schools and had resided in Eldred since 1996. Robert was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army.He was a member of Eldred American Legion Post No. 887 and the Galeton VFW Post. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing.Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Donald Kontz of Reynoldsville, Robert (Sharon) Kontz Jr. of Eldred, Eugene Kontz of Hazlehurst and Charles Kontz of Emlenton; four daughters, Roberta Loveless of Port Allegany, Patricia Falk of Port Allegany, Anne Free of Olean, N.Y., and Sandra (Michael) Majot of Millport; four stepsons, Wilbur (Holly) Furman Jr. of Bradford, Joseph (Val) Furman of Bradford, Robert Furman of Port Allegany and Michael (Marie) Furman of Rixford; one stepdaughter, Katrina (Jeff) Evans of Port Allegany; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Kontz, in 1980.Friends may call Saturday (Feb. 21, 2015) at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time the funeral service will be held with the Rev. Jay Tennies officiating. Burial will follow in the Grimes Cemetery in Port Allegany.The family would like to invite everyone to a gathering at the Eldred Township Fire Hall immediately following the funeral.
