The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Melvin Lewis Barber of LaGrange will be Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 1:00PM at the Confidence Baptist Church on Colquitt Street. Dr. W. T. Edmondson will officiate. Burial will be in the Southview Cemetery. Mr. Barber, a native of Lanett, Alabama, was born March 18, 1948 and was the son of the late Fannie Mae Carlisle and Paba Barber. He attended attended school in Chambers County and attended Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Melvin owned and operated Barber's Construction. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rosa Lee Davidson. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and caring wife, Tammy Barber; six daughters: Monquie Barber, Maeshia Barber, Michelle Thurman, Ashley Thurman, Biancia thurman, and Ebony Reid; one son, James Ross; four grandchildren: Amiya, Arriania, Ayvenon, and Aiden; mother-in-law, Minnie Thurman; three sisters-in-law: Melody Thurman, Denise (Eric) Boykin and Kovanda (Wayne) Hunt; one brother-in-law, Dereck Cunningham; three special aunts, Doris Thurman Hall, Cora Lee Sandigo, and Ruby Sandigo; favorite cousins, Estella Lovelace-Cox, Elizabeth Ross, Annie Lovelace, Jimmy Lovelace, Clyde Lovelace; extended family, the Delaneys; special friends, Bobby and rocky; many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
