For whatever reasons we all relish the hunt.  Of course we run across errors in our research, there are many out there, and not just from people putting undocumented information on ancestry or wherever, but in census records, marriage records, there are possibilites for errors everywhere.  That is why we stress doing your own research , documenting your own findings , so that we know for a fact or not that so and so was so and so's father, or at least we know who the father is according to the records, right or wrong.
