    1. [LL] Question for Jack
    2. Hi Jack, I have a question for you about your family's land in OK. You told me they took place in the run. Lo and behold, I have learned a piece of history I never knew since I've been working on this book. There were two runs that opened Cleveland County (yes, I knew there were other runs other places, but I didn't know there were two right here). Anyhow, Needmore, where your family was is in the part of the county that was opened in the second run. I can't believe I never knew that before, but I've discovered I'm not the only one who didn't. What happened was that Cleveland County was created by that first run and we abutted Indian Territory. After the run the government doled out the Indian land in 160 acre allotments to all the Indian inhabitants of that area and there was land left, so they opened up six more miles for settlement and had a second run selling those pieces of land for $1.25 an acre to the people who claimed them. That's the area where your family was. But my question is, do you have any info as to what section their land was in? I'm working on the Needmore story and your family is going to be mentioned as one of the early settlers of that area. Do you know when they sold out and went to CA? As I recall we talked about this once and it seems to me that it was real close to the time my grandpa's brother made that same trek. By being in that second run, your folks settled here in 1891. My Loveless family got here in 1896 and lived about four miles straight down the road from Needmore. They weren't in any runs. They bought their land from people who got it in the run and gave up on it. Thanks in advance Lou Ann
