Born in Anderson, he was the husband of Sara Moss Thomas and son of the late Ralph Porter Thomas, Sr. and Alice Gaffney Thomas Kelley. Mr. Thomas was the owner/operator of Ralph P. Thomas Builders, was a U. S. Army veteran and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Richard Wayne Thomas and wife, Hilda of Gaffney and Dr. Roger William Thomas of Albermarle, NC; three grandchildren, Randon Wesley Thomas, Sara Katherine Thomas, and Henry Wilson Thomas; a nephew, Charles D. Lovelace; three nieces, Carol Hatcher, Laura Terrell, and Elizabeth Hayes; cousins, Walter Sprouse, Hugh Sprouse, Joe Melton, Georgia Gaffney, and Nancy Kay Welborn. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Thomas Lovelace. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Stuart Kersey officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Mr. Thomas' nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Jack Millwood Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, PO Box 1449, Gaffney, South Carolina 29342 or to the charity of ones choice. The family will be at the residence. I have all three neices listed as the daughters of Charles and Betty, and I have the nephew listed as Charles Osiba Lovelace, Jr. Are you sure it was a "D" and not an "O"?
