The Star Shelby, NC May 13, 2010 Gladys Hamrick KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Gladys Scism Hamrick, 97, of 511 Oak Grove Road, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Hospice of Kings Mountain. She was born in Cleveland County to the late John William and Sarah Louise Green Scism. She was a faithful member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church, Kings Mountain where she served as Children's Sunday School Teacher in the Primary De-partment for 45 years. She loved to visit the homebound church members. She was a farmer's wife and homemaker who loved sewing and making quilts. She was also preceded in death by husband of 75 years, Ben Cleophas Hamrick; son, Kenneth Hamrick; grandson, Jason Dover; sisters, ***Rosavee Lovelace***, ***Helen Lovelace*** and Thelma Allen; brothers, Grady Faye Scism, Elmer Scism, Mearl Scism, Earl Scism, Max Scism and Lawrence Scism. She is survived by son, William Hamrick and wife, Carolyn, of Cartersville, Ga.; daughters, Maxine H. Williams and hus-band, Johnny, of Kings Mountain, Rachel H. Dover and husband, Paul, of Kings Mountain and Sara H. Weaver and husband, Reginald, of Oxford; daughter-in-law, Betty Hamrick of Morganton; sister, Marjorie Scism Neal, of Kings Mountain; grand-children, Christa Williams, Charity Tolbert and husband Jamie, Kim Spurr and husband David, Jeff Weaver, Ashley Dover, Ben Hamrick and wife Theresa and Elizabeth Galland and husband Brad; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Evan Spurr and Ryley and Kasey Tolbert. Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday, May 13, 6 to 8 p.m., at Harris Funeral Home.
