Ole Buckley continues to read about the oil spill, fascinated w/ the logistics and descriptions engineering wise that might have happened to the well. There was a thing that existed in the oiyle bidness in Texas and OK from the '20's through the late '50's, early '60's: independent oil operators were the producers of the petroleum of whom we are the children of.....and there was a huge division between them and company people, few in the beginning, who worked for Esso, Humble, Phillips and the first of the big oil cos. The line of demarcation was clear and very established. They didn't respect each other, socialize together.....nuthin' like that. And, he and I are both children of independents. So, we naturally, though maybe not correctly, think all oil company people are doofuses. Of course, the independents were run outta biz by government policy in the '80s. Heard that one before? It was called OPEC. So, it's only natural that Ole Buckley thinks BP is inept and very much at fault. The pain of thinking about the damage that is probably going to be done to the Gulf Coast area and the playgrounds of millions who love to go to the beach, and/or live there is just too much to think about.
