Hi all, I had an interesting message from a descendent of the above couple and if what she says is accurate, there is finally an explanation of the name question. Some of you may recall that she is supposedly wife of Alexander, but appears on census records as Lovelace with Lovelace children. Some think she has 4 illigitimate children and that she is the dau of Archibald Lovelace of Pr William Co VA. Some think she is a widow Lovelace and sister to Alexander Cornwell. The girl who wrote me today laid both of those things to rest. Here is what she says:   also, to note:  Susan Lovelace was of Mattaponi Indian....they usually keep their last names even when married and pass Their name onto their children, hence all the children with Susan's last name "Lovelace"  There are a bunch of Lovelace's in the Upper Mattaponi tribe.  Per Mini Haha of the Mattaponi, Lovelace's are her cousins. I've written her back to find out more about the Mattaponi Lovelaces. I had not heard of them before. I will also invite her to join the list. Lou Ann
