Lou Ann, If I understand you correctly and I am reading the 1850 census correctly, then Alexander Cornwell is the son of Sally Cornwell and he is a Mattaponi. Is this the same Sally Cornwell that married Isaac Lee? If the Mattaponi women keep their maiden name when they marry and give their children their maiden name, does this mean that Susan's mother was a Lovelace who was married to a Mattaponi man? If so, who is the father of Susan's mother? Who is the father of Susan? Does Mini HaHa have the answers to these questions?
