My oldest cat who was Miss Kitty until she had babies and then became Mama Cat chose us. She had probably been "dropped off" by someone getting rid of her when she was just a kitten. She appeared in the yard one day and adopted my little dog as her mother. She was the greatest cat and one I allowed to have kittens, although some of her babies I had to have spayed. It was so much fun to watch her teach her babies to climb trees and stalk "game". We live in the country and not all of her litters survived. Critters would sometimes get some of them. That's why I let her have kittens. It was the only way to keep cats on the place. The two older cats I now have are two of hers and the only two left.
