Carolyn Bliss NEWARK - Carolyn Bliss, 89, died Friday (July 22, 2016) at the Wayne County Nursing Home. All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery. Memorials, in her name, may be made to the Taylor Rae Bliss Memorial Scholarship at Newark High School, 100 East Miller Street, Newark, NY 14513. Mrs. Bliss was born on July 1, 1927 in Fairport, N.Y., the daughter of Jacob and Hazel Loveless VanHoute. She had been a cook at the Newark Developmental Center for several years. Carolyn then worked out of her home, as a seamstress for more than twenty years. She also taught sewing for the Adult Education Program at Newark High School. She was a 50 year member of the Newark Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Carolyn loved working in her flower gardens, also feeding and watching birds. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene (Rusty) Havert; sons Larry (Particia) and Rodney (Karen Crowell) all of Newark; five grandchildren Megan (John) Rorna, Matthew (Jessica) Bliss, Lynzee, Jenna and Jacob Havert; a great-grandson, Bodey Bliss; a sister, JoAnne (Glenn) Wills of Dalzell, S.C.; several nieces and nephews.
