After serving as the deputy for several years, Marie was named township clerk of the Township of Lawrence in 1957 and was officially elected later that year. Her reelection in 1960 resulted in tenure for the office. She retired in 1970, proud of the work she accomplished. During retirement, Marie traveled extensively visiting family and friends all over the world but always returning to the home she loved and the puppies she cherished. When not traveling, she filled her time crocheting and sewing - winning multiple blue ribbons for her crafts. Throughout her life, Marie was always an active member of her community. She was a lifelong parishioner of Saint Alphonsus Church and secretary at the Diocese of Trenton Chancery for several years. She was a life member of the American Legion Post 339 and a longtime member of the East Amwell Senior Citizens Club. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Loveless; her son, David N.
