    3. EMMA DOLINAR LOVELACE(1919 - 2016) Emma Dolinar Lovelace, 97, of Prairie Village, Kan., passed away August 18, 2016. She was born in Arcadia, Kan., on Feb. 2, 1919. She is survived by brother, Stanley Dolinar, Wichita, Kan., nephew, David Dolinar (Diane) of Wichita, niece, Diana Thomson (Robert) of St. Charles, Mo., and niece, Claire Haines of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sydney Lovelace. Once Emma graduated from high school, she went to Pittsburg College and earned a 3- month teaching certificate. She was only 17-years-old when she started teaching grades 1-8 in Gross, Kan. In 1943 she helped the war effort by working in a bombing plant. After the war she moved to Kansas City and taught fourth grade for two years. The pay was low so she got a job working for Braniff Airlines. She started out as a tour operator and worked her way up to work on the Executive Tour Desk until her departure after 32 years with Braniff -- a job that allowed her and Syd to travel extensively. Emma met and married Syd on Dec. 11, 1964. They were married 45 years before Syd passed away at age 100. They spent many weekends at their earth- sheltered country home on 120 acres near Lake of the Ozarks. They had three ponds dug so that family and friends could enjoy fishing. There were a lot of big bass caught in those ponds!! Emma was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at Village Presbyterian Church, 6441 Mission Rd. A reception will follow at the church.
