GOLDEN VALLEY- Mr. Harry G. "Bud" Oates, Jr., 83, of Golden Valley, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at his residence. He was the son of the late Harry G. Oates, Sr. and Gertrude Dotson Oates. Bud was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church, was a US Navy Veteran; and retired from NC DOT. He is survived by his wife, Frances Lovelace Oates; his daughter, Cheryl Oates of Golden Valley; a sister, Helen Oates Grayson of Golden Valley; his granddaughter, Amanda Hudson Hildebran; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Cole Crisp and Bethany Sierra Crisp. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at Fairview Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. David Ledford and Rev. John Ware.
