He is one of my candidates for the father of my Benjamin b ca 1727 First record is 1733 = Tax list Charles Co MD in Leonard Benedict Dist. with Abraham. He's of age by now so he was probably born ca 1700=1710. If he's a brother of Thomas the Orphan, he was probably born closer to 1700. 1734 - Charles Co MD owed money to the estate of John Anderson again with Abraham 1736 - Charles Co MD paid money to the estate of William Brodgen. Couple of interesting things about this document. One is that Randolph Morris who is next on Benjamin's timeline and Phillip Key are also mentioned. Abraham was a debtor of Phillip Key in 1769. The other interesting thing is that a connection to William Brogden also gives him a connection to a Barton family. William Brogden was married twice and one of his wives was a daughter of Samuel Perry and 'Sarah Barton. I've researched this Barton family trying to find a connection that could have led to my Barton, son of Benj. b 1727 being named Barton. I haven't found a precise connection yet, but one possibility is that this Benj is the father of my Benj and his wife may have somehow been connected to Brogden/Perry/Barton. I'm still looking for more info. The immigrant Wm Barton landed in MD only a couple or three years before the Lovelace men did. And they were in Charles Co MD, one connecting factor being Port Tobacco for all these guys. And I've found Leonard Benedict Dist mentioned more than once. But this is a work in progress. There's another indirect connection to the Lovelace family and the Perrys. John Perry married Rebecca Dunnington. Rebecca is the 1st cousin of Mary McClain who married Abraham Lovelace. Rebecca's mother is Ann Elgin. Ann's niece married a KAY and the grandson of the niece married a child of James Lovelace of Tishomingo Co MS. John Perry is either the brother of nephew of Samuel Perry who married Sarah Barton. There are all kinds of twisted connections that indicate very close proximity of all these families and people tended to marry within their known circles. We've got lots of gaps with Lovelace wives and if only we knew who they were it could probably answer a bunch of questions. 1737 - Charles Co - was a debtor on the estate of Randolph Morris - again with Abraham I have nothing else on Benjamin after 1737 which indicates that he probably died. Did he leave a wife and children? Have we lost her because she remarried and took a different name? Lou Ann
