    1. [LL] Abraham & Mary McClain
    2. Brondak via
    3. per Jack Lovelace, Abraham (#36511) (c1710-b1790)     married Mary McClain (c1710-c1770) c1732     father of:  1) Mary, 2) Cleta, 3) Edward, 4) Samuel, 5) William,         6)  John (1740-1816) I asked Jack where the names of those children came from and in the meantime I went to rootserb worldconnect and found s couple or three files that gave them listing their source as family files from ancestry.com, but no names. The problem is that none of those children show up in any record in MD that I have ever found, They, however, are actually the names of some of the proven children of his son John and would be Abraham's grandchildren. The interesting thing about those files is that they showed Abraham's father as John and John's father as William which I believe is quite likely. However, they showed William b 1643 with a wife Hazel. A William Lovelace with a wife Hazel has floated around for years, but different Williams are cited and no one has ever been able to prove that any William had a wife named Hazel so I have no clue where that originated. They also show Abraham born in Scotland rather than MD where all the other children of John would have been born. I think that originated as family lore because the woman Abraham married was Scottish. Here's a timeline for Abraham: 1733 Charles Co MD Tax list Leonard Benedict's Dist with Benjamin Lovelace on same list 1734 Charles Co - owes money to the estate of John Anderson 1737 Charles Co - With Benjamin again - both appear as debtors to the Randolph Morris estate 1751 St Mary's Co - witnessed the will of Roswell Neale jr 1769 - St Mary's Co with a Thomas Lovelace appears as debtor to Philikp Key estate died bef 1788 - probably since this is when his son John shows up in MS I think the Benjamin who appears with him in those docs is a brother, but I don't know for sure which Thomas is on the 1769 doc. I think he's the one who goes to Loudoun co VA, but don't know who he belongs to yet. I'm still working on that. At first I thought he might be another son of Abraham's, but if he's the one in Loudon Co he's too old to belong to Abraham. I have docs for Thomas that range from 1746 to 1769 in Charles Co MD then he seems to disappear from MD records and shows up in 1774 in Loudoun Co. Regarding Abraham's wife Mary, in 1752 a Mary Lovelace is owed money from the estate of Joseph Tims. She is named with a Margaret Lovelace. This doc is in Charles Co and she lives in St Mary's, but had been in Charles previous to 1752 and Dr Gustavus Brown is also named as being owed money. Dr. Brown was from St Mary's as well. It possible that Mary and Margaret had attended the funeral preparations. I don't know who Margaret is, but on one of the records for the above named Thomas, a Margaret Lovelace is also named. She could have been his wife or sister. Although, if she was attending a dressing for a funeral or wake, she was likely married. An unmarried woman probably wouldn't have been tasked with that duty. I think Thomas in Loudoun had a wife Susannah, but he could have been married in MD previous to her. Regarding Joseph Tims, I haven't found a relationship between his family and the Lovelace family, but a Margaret "Lovely" witnessed his will. That could be a mistranslation of the Margaret Loveless named later as being owed money. Regarding John Anderson on Abraham's 1734 doc, I have found no relationship either, but the Timms and Andersons are both In Port Tobacco. No relationship found to John Anderson or Randolph Morris. The Keys and Neales were both well known families in St Mary's Co, but I have no idea what Abraham owed them for or how he came to witness Roswell neale's will. Lou Ann
