[Greg's note: This post mentions Ella Frances Lovelace Millikan, that her Bible contained the newspaper clipping reporting the death of young Mary Ola Millikan. I found Ella Frances Millikan in the 1900 census of Loutre Township, Montgomery Co., MO. She was married to George Millikan, as is confirmed by several files on WorldConnect. He was George Rufus Millikan. One of the WorldConnect files shows that Ella was the daughter of Isaac N. and Salena Cobb Lovelace, and shows Isaac as the son of Barnett H. and Elizabeth Orr Lovelace of Caswell Co., NC. In a 2007 post in our archives, Donna Price confirms the link between Isaac N. and Barnett, and shows Barnett as the son of Zachariah Rhodam Lovelace. Ella Frances Lovelace is shown to have been born in 1859 in Pike Co., MO. I do find her in the 1860 census in the home of Isaac N. and Selena Lovelace in Louisiana Post Office, Buffalo Twp., Pike Co., MO. So this confirms Ella's link to Zachariah Rhodam. Donna, can you further confirm this? Now the WorldConnect file shows George Millikan, Ella's husband, b. 1851 in Crittendon Co., KY. A search for George in the WorldConnect files shows him as the son of William Barton Millikan, who also had a son Theodorich Millikan who was married to Sarah E. Morrow. The file shows Theodorich and Sarah with two children, the younger being Mary O. Millikan, who was born 5 Nov 1882 and died 7 Oct 1892. So little Mary Ola was Ella Frances Lovelace Millikan's niece.] -------- Original Message -------- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> Source: MOMONTGO@rootsweb.com Subject: [MOMONTGO] Millikan, Mary Ola obit This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. She had suffered seven weeks with Typhoid Fever. Her friends had for several days prior to her death had hopes of her recovery, but early Friday morning she began growing worse and at 9 0'clock the pure young spirit returned to the God who had given it. The grief stricken parents have the sympathy of the entire community. This clipping was inside the Bible of Ella Frances Lovelace Millikan. I do not know the publication date, nor the newspaper. ABSENT BUT NOT FORGOTTEN Little Mary Ola Millikan, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodric Millikan, passed away at her grandparents, David Morrow's, seven miles north west of Americus after having suffered seven long weeks with Typhoid fever. Age 9 years, 11 months and 2 days. Little Ola journeyed with us but a short time until she came to that bridge-- Death, which transports us from this life to one beyond. But during her sojourn here it was by her watchful kindness, by her sweet tone, her gentle words and ways she won and preserved the affections of all who knew her. She was the joy and comfort of her father and mother. Ever ready and willing to aid them in fighting life's battle. She leaves behind her, (the rest of the article is missing)
