Joe Loveless Sr., 89, a native of Arlington, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2011, in Hilton Head, SC. Mr. Loveless is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Beth; his two children, Bette Jo and Joe Jr., and Joe Jr.'s wife, Ducky; as well as his two sisters, Florence and Shirley. Mr. Loveless also has four loving grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Joe Loveless Sr. served a total of 30 years in federal government service, first as a weapons Fire Controlman in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Houston. After WWII, Mr. Loveless was honorably discharged from the Navy and appointed Master Electrician at the Marine Barracks at 8th & I Street in Washington D.C. In the following years, Mr. Loveless was promoted to various civilian positions relating to the maintenance and operation of this historic facility, and retired after 30 years of service. He then joined the construction and real estate development business headed by his son. They worked together until Mr. Loveless retired following a heart condition in 1989. Services were held for Mr. Loveless in Hilton Head, SC, on Monday, March 7, 2011, at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory. A graveside memorial will be held for Mr. Loveless in Northern Virginia on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
