Hi, all On 3/8/2011 12:53 PM, bgsroots wrote: Joe Loveless Sr., 89, a native of Arlington, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2011, in Hilton Head, SC. ==================================================== I found Joe in the home of his family in the 1930 census for Arlington, VA. He's listed as Joseph A. Loveless (indexed by Ancestry as "Jsoeph A. Loveless"), age 9, in the home of his parents William H and Florence E. Loveless. The lived on Wilson Blvd. in District 9, Arlington. William was age 35, b. VA, parents b. VA, and worked as a conductor for the Virginia Railway. His wife Florenece was 29, b. VA, father born PA. mother B. VA. Her mother, Margaret C. McCarthy was a widow, age 54, living with the family. There were two other sons, Theodore M., age 7, and William H. Jr., age 1. William Sr.'s age has him born c1895. He states that he was first married at age 24, which would give him a marriage date of c1919. Checking the 1920 census, I find Florance McCarthy in the home of her mother Maggie McCarthy in Arlington, Alexandria Co., VA at age 19. So she was unmarried at census time. I founhis father was a d William H. in the 1920 census in the home of his parents Henry and Julia J. Loveless in Providence, Fairfax Co., VA. William was aged 23, giving him a birthdate of c1897. He was employed as a conductor on the electric railroad, and his father Henry was a laborer for the same. Henry, age 57, and his parents were born in VA. William's 3 brothers and 3 sisters were also living in the home. The eldest was Grace, age 31, and the youngest was Everett, age 18. In the 1900 census of Providence, Fairfax Co., VA, Henry and Julia are listed with a bunch of children, the eldest being Gracie, age 11, and the youngest Dewey, age 2. William was 3. The family is living next door to John Loveless, an invalid age 76, and his wife Jane E., age 73. John and Jane have a hose full of kids, raning from James W. age 49 to Ann E. who is listed as married at age 34. Thomas J and his wife Frances M., and Nixon B. and his wife Mary C. are also in the home. The 1880 census of Providence, Fairfax Co., VA, shows Henry, age 17, as the son of Jno. and Elizabeth J. with siblings James W.,Thomas J. and his wife Frances, Ann E., and Nixon, along with a couple others. So this is definitely the right family. John was born in VA, as were his parents. He is listed as age 50. And this is as far back as I can go right now. I looked in the archives and found many mentions of the son Nixon, but I can;t easily take the family any further back. Anybody else got anything? Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg
