Nov. 11, 1930 to Feb. 27, 2011 Parnell M. Lovelace, Sr. earthly journey has ended. He passed away at his home in San Diego after a long illness. This retired Air Force Veteran and civic leader was the founder and first president of SD Chapter #12 Friends of Allensworth. He also contributed to the community in many capacities. Parnell was the last of his generation with all 13 of his siblings preceding him in death. He is survived by his wife, Wilma. Viewing on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, 5-8 p.m. at Preferred Cremation and Burial, 6529 University Ave., San Diego. Services on Thursday, March 3rd, 11 a.m. at 31st Street SDA Church, 414 S. 31st St., San Diego. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Parnell's name to Wilma Lovelace. I did find out that he was married at least twice, and that his son Parnell, Jr. is a prominent pastor, a bishop in fact, in the African-American community around Sacramento, CA.
