Hi Donna, My family's line does have Cherokee roots on the Lovelace side.We go back to John Lovelace Sr. born 1801 married to Mary Polly Cooper Bookout born 1797. Mary's grandfather was a Cherokee chief Enola Blackfox during the time of the Indian removal. Her Father Isaac Cooper was a Choctaw Chief. Cousin Kevin Davis who is not on the list but is from the same line I am has done extensive research on Cherokees. If you are interested, let me know and I'll put you in touch with him. All, I'm not really sure where we stand on the family of Benjamin Lovelace b. 1727 and his wife Sarah ?Robey? Lovelace. Specifically, do we know that Ol' Ben moved to KY and died there? And do we know the whereabouts of his son Zadock? I got two PML messages from the Countryman list that mention our Maryland guys. They involve a Henry Gunterman of KY. There were two specific records: Henry Gunterman will, dated 23 November 1813, proven 3 July 1815 Bullitt County KY: daughter Elizabeth: plantation for lifetime; after her death to divided equally between daughters Mary, Barbara, Margaret, Anne; daughter Elizabeth: all other property; son George: 100 acres adjoining my plantation; executors sons Peter Gunterman and George Gunterman; witnesses Robert Samuels, ***Zadoc LOVELACE***, D. Grabet [Bullitt County KY Will Book -----] Henry Gunterman apparised estate of Benjamin Lovelace 17 February 1817 Nelson County KY [Nelson County KY Will Book C: 516] Is the above Benjamin the father, aged ~90 yrs, or the son, aged ~43? And Zadock, son of Benjamin b. 1827, would be ~53. Any ideas out there? Is anyone's interest piqued? These posts were made by a Scott Swanson <SSwanson@butler.edu> in reference to research he is doing on the Gunterman family.
