Edmund was not included in the indexes for any estate papers in those two counties. It is always possible that I missed it somehow... Jack, do you have a book number for that will? No matching segments at the default cutoff (7 cM) No matching segments at 5 cM At a cutoff of 3 cM, two small segment matches: - 3.6 cM on CHR 2 (144,962,285 to 150,382,135), 835 SNPs - 3.4 cM on CHR 3 (32,401,615 to 36,415,901), 770 SNPs At a cutoff of 1 cM, two more small segments emerge: - 1.3 cM on CHR 6 (31,749,365 to 33,109,749), 1718 SNPs - 2.1 cM on CHR 7 (64,290,271 to 68,687,837), 769 SNPs Including all the matching segments at the 3 cM cutoff, we share a total of 7 cM, which translates to 0.1% of our DNA. Using the 1 cM cutoff, we share a total of 10.4 cM, which translates to 0.15% of our DNA. CAVEAT: According to ISOGG, you should use the 5 Cm CUTOFF. Using that restriction, we don't share *ANY* DNA. Even more interesting (and perplexing!), I don't match Martha Wallace. I would have expected us to have some matching segments as Martha is also from the James of Tishomingo line. Has anyone else done an autosomal DNA test and ported their results to GedMatch? As for the parentage of James of Tishomingo, I still lean towards William Loveless who was last seen in Laurens County, South Carolina. I can't get past the fact that James is not mentioned in the Loveless - Sadler deed of Jefferson County, Alabama, where John Loveless's wife and heirs sold off his land. We also have evidence that they are descended from ancestors of Linna and Mary Hughes. Melissa Third cousins or closer are more likely than not to share DNA. For any two specific fourth cousins or further it is less and less likely that DNA is shared. For sixth cousins, if I remember right, it's about 5% that measurable DNA will be shared. Segments less than 7cM are 50% likely to be noise (identical by state or IBS). 50% likely to be identical by descent (IBD). Below 7, it is more likely to be noise. However, even if a segment matches at 3cM it can be determined to be IBD if triangulated. So when I load in 2nd and 3rd cousins, I track at 4cM 400 SNPs and up because if I can show that I match that cousin on that segment, then find someone else who does even if our match is 7cM, the odds are high that it is identical by descent. They were married in 1777 in KT and he passed in Ohio. I suspect that based on the number of DNA hits that he must somehow be connected to the Newberry Five, but back a generation. A brother or cousin of their father. Any thoughts? Lenny
