Hi, cuzzins It has been a busy weekend here in the SC Lowcountry. There were so many things going on in Charleston this weekend that, if you were going to go out for fun, you really had to pick and choose. Susan and I have been working hard on healthy aerobic weight loss and also on our yard, which was a jungle when we took it over. I'm down about 15 pounds from my high weight around January. So yesterday we opted for exercise rather than yard work. Susan went to the gym to work out yesterday morning, and then we took the dogs on a long walk before biking down to Fort Johnson from our house to watch the Blue Angels, the Navy's precision flying team, put on the first of two air shows this weekend over Charleston Harbor and Fort Sumter. I had seen the team before when we lived in North Carolina. This was a great opportunity to see them again without all the hassles of trying to find parking and taking a shuttle to the viewing areas. And, as I remembered from the first time, they were amazing! They were flying very low over the harbor, and we had a great view of the maneuvers and formations of this team of pilots. It was a great show. Other things happening yesterday were; Tennis: the semifinals of the Family Circle Cup women's tennis championship, with an exhibition match last night with John McEnroe, pro tennis's bad boy of the 70s. Festivals: A grits festival, of all things.... An Earth Day festival Weekly Farmers Market in downtown ...and just about anything else you would want to do. So today we turned ourselves to our yard work. We've been working now for several years trying to tame it. It was a big mess when we moved in. I have spent several weekends since mid-winter dismantling an old shed full of stuff that was kindly left by the previous owners. The shed was falling apart and was not really worth trying to rehab. Last weekend I finally got down to the foundation and was able to get it all up and out to the road for the trash men to take away. So that was a great load off my mind and a welcome riddance to an eyesore in our yard. There was also a pile of old shingles in the middle of the yard when we moved in, with lots of weeds and vines growing up in and around it. So we had put a tarp over it to try and kill the plants so we could deal with it. Finally today I pulled off the tarp and tried to get rid of the pile. Much to my surprise, there was a brick firepit, about 3 foot square, buried in there, too. So I ended up digging it out for us to use as a gathering place in the yard. Looks pretty good out there, now. We still need to tame the rest of the back yard and gain control over the poison ivy, climbing ivy, and wisteria vines that are choking out all the trees back there. We're gonna have a real showplace when it's all done! So to genealogy... Thanks for Cuzzin Jimmie for hopping in and helping out our new cuz Keith Lovelace with his family. I've only skimmed Jimmie's outline of the family, so I don't really know where Keith fits in. But I'm sure it'll get all figured out. I'll try to look through it all tonight. And thanks to Wanda Rabb and Bob Stewart for her continued posting of tidbits and obits for members of the western NC Lovelace family descendants. This is invaluable for filling in later generations of our family. I'm saving all the posts until I have time to enter the data. And thanks to Buckette for keeping up with our morning messages. I know how much work that is, and how sometimes you have to rack your brain trying to come up with something to say. Thanks, Buckette! And thanks for you all being here and keeping the list going. Maybe one of these days I can return to a more direct role here, but the time just isn't there now. Well, I've bored you enough, I think. Y'all have a great Sunday evening. Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg

So you show September 29, 1897 as her birth yet the 1900 census shows her birth as Jun 1891; her death record in Georgia states Jun 1881 which I believe is the wrong woman and Troup Georgia is not her but another Elizabeth Lovelace which also has census record for Troup, Georgia for 1910 when Elizabeth Lizzie is in Texas with children, it has been my experience to find that women turn out to say they are much younger than they really are when they age. I have used the census information of the 1900 census as the only baseline for her true age, except when I can get death and birth certificates it is so much clearer. My grandmother in the 1900 census shows she was born in 1892, yet her death certificate states she was born in 1896, so from my great grandmothers bible she noted that she was in fact born in 1892, so she was a bit older then her own children knew. Four out of the five Ancestry files have her birthdate as 13 Jan 1889, so I suspect you now have your own mystery here and I will update my file to your information, except the 1987 birth date. The only record I can find on FamilySearch is, which would be in the same general area of where she would have lived or maybe her children lived.: Elizabeth LOVELESS Birth Date: 12 Oct 1894 Death Date: 6 Jul 1989 Social Security Number: 459-20-9356 State or Territory Where Number Was Issued: Texas Death Residence Localities ZIP Code: 78747 Localities: Austin, Travis, Texas Creedmoor, Travis, Texas Is this the record in FamilySearch? Cuz Jimmie
I found her death certificate on line through familysearch.org and my dad found her information in his baby book. Her name was Elizabeth Garrett Lovelace and her date of birth was 9-29-1987 in Texas and her date of death was 6-14-1960. Her parents names were John Garrett and Anna Martin. The census information you have for her is probably the correct one just wrong year of birth. I think the information from the finnell tree is correct also cuzzin Keith ________________________________ From: Jimmie Ryan <Jimmie.Ryan@verizon.net> To: lovelace@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, April 18, 2010 1:20:03 PM Subject: Re: [LL] John Lowell Lovelace Senior Well cousin, not much luck so far on records to confirm her name, here are some interesting records in ancestry, could the death record be in her maiden name? Hey Cousin, I believe you are correct in the birth of Sybil, there is also a death record: Texas Death Index, 1903-2000 Name: Sybil Lovelace Death Date: 29 Jun 1976 Death County: Dallas Gender: Female In most of the records I have found there is no maiden name for "Lizzie," which of course is a name for Elizabeth. It is not too hard to image a 40 year old woman having a child during that time; and we also know that Wm Ernest did go by W. E. on most of his records. I have yet (except for Everett, who I found a birth record for) Texas birth records, as with my Texas family most were born at home; with some being buried if death occurred in infancy on the family farms; so dates of birth and death are sometimes hard to verify. The death record above may be another document that could give you who the mother and father were, I am not sure either of how the Texas death records work, and since Lizzie did not have a social security card there is no way to verify it as well as the death record in Georgia, it would also be interesting to see who she was living with at the time, is that where her family lived (immediate with W.E.? or was it her original home as a child) at the time of her death. One sure way to find out the maiden name of her is to get her death certificate, which would mean you would have to write off to Georgia (not sure how to do it in that state). I have gone ahead and with this birth record, considering the county (Brown) and the husbands name being consistent with his common nickname believe that Lizzie is really Elizabeth Garrett, as in 1929 the records become more solid in Texas as other parts of the country. Good luck in your search, let me know what I can do cousin. I have been playing around on Ancestry.com the last few days and started seeing a lot of the information you have sent me. This confirms I am going in the right direction. I plan on purchasing FTM 2010 to help keep all of this infomration straight. One question though. Is William Ernest Lovelace's wifes name Lizzie or Elizabeth? I found a 1929 Brown County, TX birth certificate for a Sybil Lovelace listing the parents as W.E. Lovelace and Elizabeth Garrett. Do you know if this is William Earnest Lovelace or another Lovelace with the same initials? Once I get the FTM 2010 program I would like to get your Lovelace information including photos. Cuzzin Jimmie Ray, Thank you for the information that you have sent. Would like to have something to show my dad and pass down to my kids Thanks for all your help Cuzzin Keith ________________________________ From: Jimmie Ryan <Jimmie.Ryan@verizon.net> To: lovelace@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, April 17, 2010 11:52:22 PM Subject: [LL] John Lowell Lovelace Senior Hey cousin Keith, my file says we are related, well distantly - he's one of ours Gregg. This family is well documented and I believe we have some of the direct line on the list, welcome Kevin to the family (hope you don't mind cousin Gregg, just went back a few and found my own file... so many names within this family looked just too familiar, kept bring up Lou Ann...). In one census on the Goodrum (Goodwin) there is another family, is this surname really Goodwin or is this an Indian Name? There were a couple of other odd things in the ancestry files that seemed to not match the census records, yet right now with my recovery from heart surgery I cannot seem to concentrate much and wanted to post so Keith had an idea of his family. If you would like I can export my file for you to use as your base, Keith - just let me know. Hey cousin Keith, my file says we are related, well distantly - he's one of ours Gregg. Mornin' Cuzzies, It's 'garage mess' day. I can't believe where all this stuff comes from?! o : Ah got all manner of thingees in there including tires?.....4 tires sitting in mah garage jerked off a pick-up. What am I supposed to do w/ them? Put a little red wagon on them? Have you got a picture of that?!! It's like every other person in the neighborhood drops off stuff in mah garage that they don't want to deal w/ anymore. I don't know where half of this stuff comes from or why....but, it's going!-----------> So, the Astros have just wrecked their streak! They actually won a game after losing 8.....and what we pay for stadiums around here is thru the roof! And, I'm noticing that Sam Bradford, tall galoot QB from OK, is leading the pack as to promising draft picks in the NFL. He may even be picked as No. 1 in the draft, which means lots of bucks.....well, used to mean lots of bucks. He's gonna donate 70%+ to the gubmit. Ole Buckley is putsying around the deck mumbling about the state of the plants....."Oh, that's dead", "you might as well throw that one out," etc. etc. Oh, ye of little faith.....! o : At some point you'd think he'd figure I had *magic hands*.....some of these pot plants which will freeze have been w/ me 20 yrs. +. I have a whole handful of orchids I put out on the deck most of the year, and they just bloom their little heads off..... ( : All I do is sprinkle them a bit, and tell them "mornin'." They say you're 'sposed ta feed them.....Ah don't know what you feed them! Feeding the cat crew is abt. mah limit! o; TGIF....have a good one! Buckette
Happy Birthday Greg Welcome back David Wilson, we missed you The hummingbird webcam is no longer live as the birds fledged and it's empty (bummer) but I did find an owl and a bald eagle cam on the same site, and just to prove this IS related to genealogy - they are breeding birds w/babes in the nests. http://www.ustream.tv/theowlbox - owls - good during the day. In NJ and you hear birds singing and see the parent and babes sleeping http://www.ustream.tv/channel/eagle-cam - also good during the day as one parent is there care taking at all times. Can't wait to see a feeding... Thanks to Buckette for finding those. Nancy, Lovelxxx ggggranddaughter from the Maryland/western NC group quietly lurking

Mornin' Cuzzies, Lovely, wet, overcast morn.....and I say its lovely because the overcast makes everything look even fresher and greener, which it is. Supposed to rain today and tomorrow. We all welcome rain because hopefully it will settle down the abundance of pollen that's in the air......we all have allergies something fierce. But, everyone is sneezing and snorting in the Houstontown. Today which is Income Tax Day is getting more attention than usual because taxes seem to be a real deal these days. The rules and regulations for figuring it all out are bloated beyond decipherability......there are now 67,500 pages of regulations pertaining to how we are supposed to perform. The cost to taxpayers just to comply and not get in trouble over it is annually running about $300 billion a year......government figures. And, more than $1 billion a year is spent on lobbying the tax system. o : Who knew the tax system was actually being lobbied! o : Sounds to me like it might be a good day to go sit in mah Margarita Hole.....maybe w/ a big napkin over mah punkin hed. Still looking for a used Lincoln town car.....yeah, don't drive anything else. Why used? Well, when once a livestock breeder, it goes against the nature to spend that much on a car when it doesn't give birth every year to a little car to sell off. I can see putting $40,000 + in a brood mare from running stock, but not a car.....'course, you gotta keep the mare alive, too. And, then mah son Da Kid sez.....Mom, no one drives town cars anymore. Well, that may be, but I don't drive foreign either. Can you say extreme generation gap! I did see an absolute beaut up on the rack getting its little oil changed yesterday in mah filling station.....yeah, of the generation where the service station is still called a filling station, by me anyway. Come to find out the owner is about 91 yrs. old. Wouldn't it be fun if I could make him an offer he couldn't refuse. ( : But, his children might want the car say the boys at the station. Naw.....no one drives town cars anymore. ( : Have a good one! Buckette
