    2. Mornin' Cuzzies, Lawdy, lawdy, lawdy!! The evening news came on yesterday and showed the tornado that ripped thru MS, and I couldn't believe it! A storm that when it touched the ground was a mile wide? And, then moved thru 150 miles thru Ms? What were the announcers on?! But, that's what happened. And, the news told abt. how help arrived immediately.....which wasn't surprising to me. I've lived in a town w/ the same population, and yeah, neighbors were definitely there for one another.....as soon as possible....offering everything known to man. That's the way it would be. So, this morn I got to worrying abt frens over there.....I'm not sure where our Tutu lives. <Overstreet Lister> Better check in, Tutu. Then I have other cuzzies in Biloxi, and they are fine. But, mah pet Daaaay nuh Precious <Overstreet> who lives in Jacksonville FL was over in MS to bury his sister., but I didn't know where. Called him this morning to check on him. It was a trip from hell.....precious dau Chrissie got sick on the trip, they were in part of the storm, and then had car trouble on the way home. Just a couple of days of a real nightmare. Then I had another friend who bounces all over the place.....she's close to 80 and will drive anywhere.....she was outta harm's way 'cause she was in Fairfax, VA where her cell phone picked her up. So, best Ah kin tell.....everyone is accounted for. ( : I just never in my life ever heard of a tornado anywhere near that big~ o : Thingees mighty quiet and peaceful around here...... ( : Hope your day is good! Buckette

    2. Mornin' Cuzzies, Gorgeous day here....low '70's....breezy.....clear as a bell! Continuing to watch the NFL draft.....they picked mah boys last night....qb from Texas and his fabulous, athletic wide receiver, high school chum, and roommate.....Colt McCoy.....to Cleveland, which I think would be the second worst city in the US next to Detroit. But, he seemed pleased. I still hold mah punkin hed over Sam Bradford.....they will kill him off in the first season, and he's such a talent! And, one of the announcers made the funniest comment of the year.....I almost fell off the couch laughing! He said when he was an assistant coach the local press who didn't like him at all thought if he would have had one point less in IQ, he would have turned into a plant! There's another wildlife webcan going.....a little hummingbird mom who just laid her first egg. She's the most beautifully exquisite little bird I've ever seen! http://www.ustream.tv/channel/Hummingbird-Nest-Cam Sattida....play day w/ the neighbors......ah, to have a wild game of cowboys and Indians thru the vacant lots.....those were the days! Have a good one! Buckette

    3. Not sure if you all are familiar with this website, but I have found a wealth of information in the form of duplication of original documents... they have all the Dawes enrollment cards (which contain many Lovelace members), Civil war/Rev war muster cards, Immigration applications as well as the standard census reports and newspaper articles. You have access to download or print copies with membership. WWW.FOOTNOTE.COM Membership is much cheaper than Ancestry especially if you do a year membership (works out to approx. $5 a month) Just found all of my Virginia relatives CW muster cards, as well as several requests for compensation from the Union for property used during the battles around Richmond, and even found a relative in trouble with the FBI for stealing cars in 1920! Thought I would share for those that haven't already been using the site. -SB _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the too busy. 2. Mornin Cuzzies, Great day....overcast, a tad breezy, goooood temps. ( : Cat crew enjoying it all, sprawled out in various spots on the deck. This oil rig fire out in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico is something else! There are many perils to working an oil rig, explosions being number one. The boys who work those thingees make some kinda money, but it's a very, very hard life. I guess my interest comes from being the dau of a geologist. Actually, the perils of being on an oil rig, say in the 30's, 40's, 50's were much, much greater. Work there always involved a huge amt. of volatility and danger. Got the first go-round of the NFL draft on TV tonight.....yeah, there will be doings around here.....yips, popcorn, the usual bunch of stuff. Cats all circle Da Kid.....they miss him. Ah don't. Ah don't miss the laundry, the owie complaints due to sports injuries, and his telling me how it is when I've lived 40 yrs. longer and taken more than double his collegiate hours. Just where do our kids get off, huh?! The lectures about not buying foreign cars, etc. Ah've n-e-v-a-h bought a foreign car! Chile can make me absolutely tired! Off to the garage.....oh, yeah.....still a train wreck! o : Have a good one! Buckette

Interesting tidbit is the convention writing the declaration had it ready March 1 1836 but legend has it they waited until the 2nd because it was Sam Houston's birthday. > From: spice3@juno.com > Date: Wed, 21 Apr 2010 15:01:42 +0000 > To: Lovelace@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [LL] Wed Apr 21, 2010 > > Mornin' Cuzzies, > > Lovely, quiet, sunshiny, peaceful day here. 3. Hi Buckette, just had a lovely but cool and damp visit to your neck of the woods this past weekend.........had four days with sibling, family and kids..........loved thinking about your hummer notes as we observed their cute little fellers at their feeders......the wild flowers out their way were gorgeous (beyond Conroe and between Willis and New Waverly). It was a very typical texas weekend with girl's softball on Friday night........riding quads and dirt bikes with the kids........and whooping it up. 3. Cousin Willie----- Thanks for the paper work........I'll eventaully ask Greg and Jack Lovelace about it. I think we are related to the line Jack Lovelace'scomes from. It's all very complicated. Don't have time right now to read the details. What a handsome cousin you are........and have been.....thanks for sharing the pictures. I'll stay in touch. If you hear anything about the markers and connections let me know as well. My Indiana cousins and I are getting together May 14th-16th and I'll show them these papers. 3. My husband and I have been working w/ the Library of Congress' Veteran's Project... figured you guys are just the ones to encourage to participate! ANYONE CAN HELP! Trying to gather any and all history from our Veterans, especially our WWII vets before they pass. It does not matter if you are related to them or not, the site has the directions on what forms to fill out, you do have to get the Vet to sign a release to be interviewed. Here's the site link : http://www.loc.gov/vets/ If nothing else, enjoy taking some time and listening to the audio and/or video that have already been collected. - SBrown _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. It's awesome! But, sickening, too......to understand that a group of people spent this kind of money on a facility only to tear it down 35 yrs. later. What does that say about our culture?! No wonder we are in the trouble we are in! Makes you understand and appreciate many of the centuries old buildings that still stand around the world today. We are waaaay too much an instant gratification society, acting like po little rich children! It's abt. this gray kitty who lives here. He showed up abt. 8, 10 yrs. ago....."Ah ain't got no home, no vittles to eat." "Okay," we said. "Trot your body in the house and hep yore sef. But, don't argue w/ the rest of the cats. They'll whip you!" And, he remained a cat, not a pet. Did cat things.....doesn't walk anywhere, runs. Ignored us all. That was cool....afterall, we had 7 others. Da Kid even said, Mom, that's the ugliest cat I've ever seen. And, that he was. Mah Momma used to say....a little love does miraculous things for an ugly cat's appearance. And, that it does. *Gray* has 4 little white feet, white vest, little white mustache, and I must say.....he's a right smart looking cat now. And, he's turned into a pet recently. Sleeps on the bed, watches TV w/ us, just jumped in my lap for a few strokes.....never done that before. Gray is turning out to be rotton, just like the rest of the cat crew. And, he's becoming a talker.....has lots to say.....especially in the kitchen. o: I'm outta here---------->the garage calls. What a disaster area! Buckette

    1. [LL] George Loveless and Ruhama
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: penengr Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lovelace/733/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have info from others that George Loveless's wife was Ruma (Ruhama) Herring. A George Loveless was in 1780's Kentucky along with Samuel Van Hook whose family hailed from NY via Monmoouth Co., NJ to Orange Co., NC to Virginia to KY. Back around 1700 the Herrings and Van Hooks intermarried in NY. Di George Loveless really stay in NY or was he the one in early KY? With that infomation the following old post might make sense: This John LOVELESS (born ca 1698) is believed by me and by others to be the father of another John LOVELESS (ca1740-1803) who served in the l4th Regiment, Albany County NY Militia under Colonel Knickerbocker during the Revolutionary War, receiving bounty land in the New York Military District and dying at Syracuse NY in 1803. This younger John LOVELESS, as nearly as I can determine and according to the Robertson book, was the father of George LOVELESS (1771-1836) who married Ruhama --?-- and settled at Meridian, Cayuga Co NY in 1800. The much-discussed John LOVELESS of Washington Co VA and Limestone KY who married (2nd) Rachel VanHook and died in Ross Co OH was about 40 years older than the aforementioned George, and thus could not have been his brother, and was definitely not his father. This John also had a son George (1760-1833) who is now pretty well documented, but when Robertson published her book, all the various Johns and Georges were amalgamated in all sorts of speculation. 1. Re: [LL] Elizabeth "Lizzie" Garrett Lovelace
    2. Cuzzin Jimmie, I found the date of birth for Elizabeth on her death certificate from Brown County TX. I believe it is the same date of birth written in my dads baby book but I will have to wait until I get the information from him to verify that. It might be a different one than the one listed on her death certificate. I have found through the little research that I have done the census records are not always accurate. There is always going to be some type of human error if you know what I mean. The Elizabeth I am looking at was buried in the East Lawn Memorial cemetary in Brownwood TX, the same cemetary that William is buried in. My dads baby book lists her parents as John B Garrett and Annie Martin. I think Annie may be her middle name but I don't know that for sure yet. His baby book also indicates that she was born in Brown County. I have have slowed down my research until I get the FTM 2010 software so I can better document where I am getting my information from. I started my research and didn't document where I had gotten the information and now I am kicking myself in the backside for that mistake. I should be able to get that by this weekend or the first part of next week and I will start back up. I will keep you posted on what I find out about her. Cuz Keith Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry® -----Original Message----- From: "Jimmie Ryan" <Jimmie.Ryan@verizon.net> Date: Sun, 18 Apr 2010 17:51:27 To: <lovelace@rootsweb.com> Subject: [LL] Elizabeth "Lizzie" Garrett Lovelace So you show September 29, 1897 as her birth yet the 1900 census shows her birth as Jun 1891; her death record in Georgia states Jun 1881 which I believe is the wrong woman and Troup Georgia is not her but another Elizabeth Lovelace which also has census record for Troup, Georgia for 1910 when Elizabeth Lizzie is in Texas with children, it has been my experience to find that women turn out to say they are much younger than they really are when they age. I have used the census information of the 1900 census as the only baseline for her true age, except when I can get death and birth certificates it is so much clearer. My grandmother in the 1900 census shows she was born in 1892, yet her death certificate states she was born in 1896, so from my great grandmothers bible she noted that she was in fact born in 1892, so she was a bit older then her own children knew. Four out of the five Ancestry files have her birthdate as 13 Jan 1889, so I suspect you now have your own mystery here and I will update my file to your information, except the 1987 birth date. The only record I can find on FamilySearch is, which would be in the same general area of where she would have lived or maybe her children lived.: Elizabeth LOVELESS Birth Date: 12 Oct 1894 Death Date: 6 Jul 1989 Social Security Number: 459-20-9356 State or Territory Where Number Was Issued: Texas Death Residence Localities ZIP Code: 78747 Localities: Austin, Travis, Texas Creedmoor, Travis, Texas Is this the record in FamilySearch?
