Mornin' Cuzzies, Back in mah 'traffic control' seat watching a severe storm coming in here in the next hour. Da Kid is holding forth on the baseball field w/ a summer camp. Storms & kids are a real ugly combination. You really have to watch the lightning.....as much on a baseball field because aluminum bats are electrical conductors and as dangerous as having a pool full of swimmers with an oncoming storm. I've seen baseball coaching daddys obliviously go thru the motions when a storm was coming up, and would have to exert my "momism" in getting all the bats outta the children's hands.....when Da Kid was that age. Also, I never left the games ever 'cause the Daddys had no clue in case of a physical prob or injury. Almost downright scarey. And, pro coaches, I've found, are not that much better. Don't assume anyone is looking out for your kid or grand kid, and if it takes your going to a first aid class......go! ( : Love these little storms we've been having. The plants just flourish! You ever notice how much brighter they appear after a rain storm than when they get a drink of water from your hose? That's also a scary thought, too. Had you thought abt. it? Interesting info floating around the net abt how the CEO of BP and the biggest owner of BP stock, among others, unloaded a bunch of BP stock prior to the Gulf probs. That doesn't bode real well. Stay tuned. I can't believe the amount of subterfuge going on in the world today! o : Have a good one! ( : Buckette

Bob, Thank you for sharing that. One of the surviving sisters (Birtie Spratt) is the widow of my first cousin on my Dad's (Brooks) side of my family. I had not noticed the surviving son's name. I am still very much a "rookie" at this and appreciate all the dedication and research others have done and are doing that allows me to learn about my ancestors and family history. Mornin' Cuzzies, Another day of watching radar. Got stuff swirling all around us. I like inpromtu thunder storms! We had one yesterday from outta nowhere. Used to, in West Texas, you could see rain coming for 20 miles or more.....which was kinda neat. Here in *Tree Ville* you can't see the sky nor rain for nuthin' until it's right over your punkin hed. Happened yesterday right at sundown: skies just opened up and poured a whole heap of stuff on us for abt. 20 minutes. Keeps thingees somewhat cool. The cat crew who were lounging on the deck after supper all came inside, complaining bitterly. But, that was soon gone, for they all got their towel rub downs, and, dear me, how they loooove that! Just purr, meow, flip over on their sides on the floor wanting more, banging those tails on the floor. A bunch of rotton cats, I'm telling you! <Ole Buckley suggests they didn't get that way on their own.> o : Hey, did you hear abt. the 17 yr. old phenom who went number 1 in the MLB draft yesterday? Quite a story. The kid must have a bat from hell.....I'd love to see a tape of him! Usually those young uns are pitchers, but this is a hitter. Now, we gotta a big ole storm coming in, and Ah gotta go man the deck. ( : Have a good one! Buckette
Mornin' Cuzzies, Today Ah have the dubious role of *radar woman*, as opposed to *Fox girl*....mainly because I don't dye mah hair blonde....and, I check the comings and goings of rain clouds for Da Kid on radar on the net. He is holding forth this week with baseball camps, and he never knows when it rains whether to usher his young 'uns under shelter for a brief period or cancel for the day entirely. Whadaya suppose I ought to charge him? Ah mean.... there are days when I have better thingees to do than sit and watch rain play around on a radar screen! Also, I've had to monitor a few fisticuffs on the back deck. Seems that Garage Cat Yella has decided to transfer his daytime sittin' to the back deck. Now, you'd think the Kat Krew would not cotton to that much, but instead it's Yella who's bossin' around and telling who what to do. Mistah Kat is not taking that well, and hiding. We can't have that. He's the Kat Elder around here. But, as Yella is the younger generation, he has no respect. Ah, me.....seems like that's the general way of the world these days: just absolutely no respect. o : Monday.....'get to crackin' day and Ah have a to do list as long as mah arm ---------> Y'all have a good one! ( : Buckette

Mornin' Cuzzies, Going into the hot weather time.....and it's pretty hot for early June, but then we've been told that for this summer. However, it beats a hurricane which I feel like we'll have this summer....and it beats having a retirement swankenda I worked all my life for on the Destin, FL, beaches as one of my close frens has and watching the little oil balls come into my paradise. No comment on the Belmont Stakes....Ice Box just woke up on the wrong side of the hay bale yesterday, and race horses will do that......having been there, done that w/ running horses. And, you go to stall and ask them what their prob is, and all you'll get is rolling of the eyes from them. Sometimes just absolutely no accountability from those horses! o ; However, it was popcorn and beer time w/ Da Kid in tow. He was telling abt. scuba-ing w/ the barracuda in Cozumel. No thank you! I've distinctly lost my "walk on the wild side." Guess it's a good thingee....I certainly helped mah sef to a bunch of hair raising outings!.....which we will not go into here, because this is 'family' time. ( : Uh, boredom was never on mah schedule. Have a good one! ( : Buckette

Mornin' Cuzzies, Looks like we're finally going in to the land of hot this week-end w/ the temps going into the high 90's every day. Gonna be kinda hard on us because we've really had a very short gradual warming springtime. The children, as usual, are totally unaffected as you can hear their laughter and noises in the neighborhood....and Da Kid has his aspiring athletes out every day working out, learning new tricks, and getting ready for the all- star playoffs....which is b-i-g in Houston. Da Kid allowed as how he did some scuba in Cozumel, and wondered why, as I was the swimmer I was, that I'd never done that. Don't do no swimming in waters w/ no folks what have teeth and such....just as Da Kid don't do noooo activities around snakes....which I did a lot of. Different strokes for different folks. ( : Aaaand, we have the Belmont Stakes going today.....I was right in saying this was a lack lustre crop of 3 yr. old thoroughbreds this year, and there's not much excitement abt. the race. Thus far, I'm still going w/ Ice Box. He should have won the Derby, but got in a storm before he hit the finish wire. And, in the meantime I'm looking forward to the College World Series in baseball coming up. ( : Go out and enjoy yourself today. Don't worry abt. world affairs or calamities. Not worth it....nuthin' any of us can do abt. it anyway. Buckette

Mornin' Cuzzies, It was some night last night....hellzapoppin, noisey, wonderful thunderstorm came barreling thru here in the middle of the night bringing lots of good rain and causing three kitties to pile up on me, safe, so they could watch all the goings on out the sliding glass door as we are perched up here in the trees on the 2nd floor. Lotsa lightening, noise, rain.....just really big ~ I don't know what Mr. Kat's trouble was.....the oldest of the bunch. He just ooched right up to my face putting his paws on my shoulders so that his nose was abt. an inch from mah nose. Kat obviously had issues......Ah told him to get over it! o : And, I see by the morning paper that the Good Fairy hasn't waved her wand and cleared the Gulf of Mexico. So, we enjoyed what may be the last of our fried shrimp dinners last night which we love. Ah mostly subsist on sea food. Mah Daddy taught me abt. shrimp when I was a little bitty thing.....when I was not much higher than a normal coffee table, I could trot over to him and he'd give me a shrimp and a sip of beer.....said that would make me grow up to be a big, strong, healthy gal.....well, it sho did that....I'm 5' 10". I actually grew an inch when I was 17 yrs. old and another when I was 22....kinda unusual for a girl. o : Mah green thumb and I are off to mess w/ the pot plants whom Ole Buckley sez are tired of being picked at.... o : What does he know! Y'all have a good one! ( : Buckette
Mornin' Cuzzies, It's so rare my email gets a hiccup, caused by either my browser or email server, that I hardly know how to act. o : Anyhoo, if I go missing for several days, you'll know that's the prob. Ah, the well, the well! Constant conversation around here: one, because we know those crazy Louisianians, how unique they are as a people and how they absolutely loooove their state, their life, and each other.....what a completely zaney collection of folks!......and the technicals of oiyle drilling, even though no one here is completely well versed in offshore drilling.....drilling is drilling. Ole Buckley spent 5 yrs. in college learning to be a petroleum engineer in one of the best and most difficult programs going....the University of Texas, natch. And, the typical reaction of a bunch of hot shots coming in to run a very, very technical program w/ not one drop's worth of experience or knowledge.....we see it every day! o : What we believe should have happened from the get go was that a collection of the finest engineers in the world should have been assembled to pool their knowledge and expertise. But, people being what they are didn't do that. ) : And, Da Kid is returning from Cozumel today....very curious to hear the response from that trip. So many, many from our part of the world are used to funning and frolicing in Mexico.....which has absolutely been shut down to all of us now. Mexico is beyond dangerous! Even the Mexican natives returning to visit families are just scared to death to go. Most of the Buckleys are Mexico raised, and they don't go at all. And, why did they leave in the first place? Well, that's interesting: they owned a big ranch which discovered a bunch of oil under it. And, when they developed the field and got it up and running, Mexico just marched in, took it over, and didn't pay them a red cent for it. So, y'all have a good one.....Ah got a busy day ahead may sef! o : Buckette
Mornin' Cuzzies, Aaaah, the very beginning of summer! I grew up thinking June lst was the bestest day in the whole year. Bet you did, too! I'm sure it had to do w/ the ending of school, but I liked school. There was just a whole change up of activities, and I generally liked that....put a little wind in mah sails. So, to lull yourself back into the same euphoria, change up your schedule and way of going as much as you can....it's good for the soul. ( : 'Tis said pollwise that the American people are suffering from a great deal of angst......I'm sure it's from fear, and basically fear of the unknown. And, 'tis true. There's a lot of unknown going on in our world right now. But, I'm reminded of the great advice......be pro-active, not re-active. So, do what you can to protect yourself from whatever as best you can, and understand there are many things you have no control over......and continue to find pleasure in little spots, big spots. It might take some working at.....<it does for me anyway.....> If there is such a thing as reincarnation, let me come back as one of my pets. Boy! Do they have the life! Lounge lizards and garbage disposals.....and appropriately, they do a little lap sitting and purring to continue getting their perks. That's easy! ( : Have a good one! ( : Buckette

Thanks Greg. I appreciate your effort. Cousin Billy ________________________________ From: Greg Lovelace <greglovelace@comcast.net> To: lovelace@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, May 31, 2010 3:19:22 PM Subject: Re: [LL] obituary search Hey, Billy I checked, and the Maryville newspaper will sell you a copy of the obit for $2.95. I searched their archives for October 1997 and found this: ---------------- Publish Date: October 3, 1997 Word Count: 292 Document ID: 1266B5C188C41460 He was preceded in death by parents, Rufus and Frances "Fanny"Loveless Davis; one brother; one sister. Survivors include wife, Lydia Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Billy Glenn and Deborah Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Diana and Thomas Talley of Walland; stepdaughter, Debra Kriese of Maryville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five sisters and other relatives. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. --------------- Looks like the right one. This is the link to the archives search engine. If you search for Davis and restrict the date search to October 3, you should come up with the link to order the obituary. I looked in several other places, but was unable to find the article. Sorry! Peace, Greg At 10:51 AM 5/31/2010, you wrote: >Greg, >I am trying to retrieve a copy of the newspaper obituary for my >father, (Rufus) Glenn Davis, Maryville TN, Oct 1997. >I have been unable to find it.
