    2. Afternoon Cuzzies, Hot diggity! Just what we most look forward to around here: Hurricane Alex is gonna pay us a teensie visit, starting this afternoon w/ a little rain and a little wind. It's supposedly going way south of us into Mexico, but sho gonna stir up those oiylie Gulf waters a bit. I don't know about you, but most of mah frens are pretty stirred up over the condition of the Gulf anyhoo. We'll get two, three days of rain outta ole Mr. Alex, and that's a fairly good lick for this time of year......as long as it's not dropping bad stuff on the foliage....which we will know sooner or later. Now, it's abt. these cats. I tell you.....pay attention to your pets' behavior. They have a lot to say abt. what they do. Mine have been sticking a lot closer than normal.....kinda interesting. And, Mr. Kat, who normally doesn't sleep on the bed, has been crawling up in the middle of the night and ootching ever so close as he settles down glued to my side for a nap. Now, what's w/ Mr. Kat? And, worse than that, he will plant a paw on my shoulder. Kat is a squirrel! o : Clouds are getting darker.....guess we're getting ready to catch it. Y'all have a good one! Buckette

    3. Hi, folks And hello to Richard <rclove@earthlink.net> Welcome to the group, Richard. When you get comfortable with us, let us know who you're researching, and we'll do our best to help you connect. In the meantime, feel free to dig in our archives, and be sure to visit our website at <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lovelace>http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lovelace Our online library of Lovelxxx documents, narratives, and pictures is an ongoing project to which we add as time allows. You can access it right now by clicking on the "Documents" button on the left margin of the main page. And our y-chromosome DNA study has proven very successful in unravelling the confusion surrounding several of the colonial American Lovelace and Loveless families. The results are posted both on the FamilyTreeDNA website (<http://www.familytreedna.com/public/lovelace/>http://www.familytreedna.com/public/lovelace/) and on our own DNA website (<http://dna.satmel.com/results.html>http://dna.satmel.com/results.html) Take a look! We now also have a companion website on MyFamily.com. If you're not familiar with that organization, to go <http://www.myfamily.com>http://www.myfamily.com and read to find out a little more about it. If you'd like to be invited to join that site, please email me at < <mailto:greglovelace@comcast.net>greglovelace@comcast.net>. Glad to have with us :-) Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg

    2. Mornin' Cuzzies, Lovely summer morn around here.....as I overlook the very green woods here in my catbird seat on the second floor. Greener than I've ever seen it! Up in one of tallest trees is a trumpet vine which has wrapped itself around many limbs and has many cascading orange flowers hanging down and swinging in the breeze. Soooo pretty! A beautiful, quiet and peaceful spot in this nutty city. On Friday my Daddy was born 108 yrs. ago.....all 6 ft. 4 in. of his Yankee self. Got a Masters from Harvard in chemistry, went to South America and proclaimed himself an oiyle man working for what became a part of the Rockefeller empire. He packed a gun on his back as he worked in the jungles......"why, Daddy?" "So, the anaconda and jaguar wouldn't eat me." Ah guess so! Then he returned to Texas after abt. 10 yrs. and hung out his shingle as an independent. Within the next 10 or 15 yrs., Texas became the producer of 90% of the world's oil. I'm not promoting oiyle; just promoting Daddy who happened to do oiyle. And, here in Texas he ran into the finger-snapping, table dancing, beautiful and beguiling southin' blossom <Overstreet/Loveless cross> who tended to run us all a little bit nuts. The last month he was here, I was teasing him saying, "Daddy, you silly ole thing! After all these years, and all her impossible stuff around here, you are still in love with her!" And, he just blushed so red! Well, I'll catch ya later, Ole Boy, just like I promised! ( : Have a lovely, peaceful Sunday! Buckette

    3. Hi, Yes, Mary is the daughter of Brewis Webster and Martha Walker Jones Lovelace. Brewis is the son of Zachariah Rhodam and Lucy (Webster) Lovelace. Still haven't found a document linking Lucy to William Webster. However, her brother was also named Brewis. I have found a Charles Lovelace in a Lancaster County, VA document. I'll get it posted when I get to that pile. 2. Afternoon Cuzzies, Nice day here.....not terrifically hot, waiting on some thunder storms, but they may never get here because they so have a mind of their own. Been working all morning on a possible housing project which may prove out to be revolutionary! It's exciting! A genie fren on another line who I've been chums with for years.....talked on the phone many times.....lives in Oregon. She sent me photos of the interior of her house which is perched above a lovely river and the grass from her back patio cascades down to the river bank. Just to die for! And, the interior of her house is gorgeous! Her kitchen over looks the patio, and she has glass on three sides. Crisp, clean architecture, sunken tub, sky lights, just the whole nine yards. It was orginally a triple wide top of the line mobile home which has been carefully attached to a concrete slab by brick. Darndest thing I've ever seen in my life! It's currently evaluated at $450,000 on today's market which as you know is not that hot.....and it cost all put together less than $200,000. I don't know why these aren't all over the country! And, there's no way it looks like a manufactured home from the outside. It is beyond classy! I am amazed ~ o : And, our Dana <on the Overstreet List>, the Annoying, is holding his head because he's a builder and a contractor. Oh, well..... Mr. Kat made an unusual visit to the vet because he's currently *not* eating us outta house and home, and he may have a small prob w/ his thyroid. Shoot! Mr. Kat doesn't even know he has a thyroid. Hope your day is going well..... ( : Buckette

    2. Mornin' Cuzzies, Wonderful tropical downpour yesterday afternoon.....heat causing afternoon showers to build. Really cools things off a bit, and the plants love it. The cat crew love to not "deck sit".....they "deck lie".....in the evening on the cooled off boards. With smiles, I might add. They get all stretched out in the wet and flip their tails happily, flinging the ruminants of water that is left. I've mentioned from time to time my high school graduating class......still joined at the hip though living all over the country.....185 of us originally. We've been all over, met lots of people, done lots of things, but still claim our class is the best group we've ever known. And, from time to time, one picks up and just moves on outta here.....which distresses us all greatly.....even though we are slightly long in tooth. The stories and emails flying around are just amazing! Two of the funniest stories I've ever heard in my life were from this gal.....and unfortunately, I can't tell them......Mary Ann was a tad on the risque side. She was a dreamer and a published poet. Ashes were scattered in the Mayan Sian Ka'an biological reserve in the Yucatán peninsula "Where the Sky is Born"......I loooove it! Off to take Mr. Kat to the vet.....he's feeling poorly.....not eating well. ) : Have a good one! Buckette

    3. David Wilson and Pam/Tom Loveless:   I would be interested in the particulars of your Brewer descent, if you can find the time. I cannot seem to find it on the internet just yet.   Best regards,   Terry --- On Sun, 6/20/10, terrence White <revenant1963@yahoo.com> wrote: From: terrence White <revenant1963@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [LL] William Physician Brewer To: lovelace@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, June 20, 2010, 7:54 PM To David Wilson, and Tom and Pam Loveless,   I am delighted to discover that I am related to both of you via the Brewers as well as the Lovelxxxes! Small world indeed!   To David--no, in my line we had always believed we were "Whites", and had never, therefore, heard any lore about any Cherokee ancestry. (Now, of course, we know that genetically we are Brewers.) I do see from elsewhere on the internet (other Brewer descendants no doubt) that Lanier Brewer Jr. supposedly had two successive wives, with children by both wives, plus an Indian squaw concubine on the side, with children by her! He supposedly fathered no less than 30 sons and 3 daughters by those three women!   Because my earliest provable "White" ancestor Jacob White Jr. born 1772 NC (genetically identical to the modal haplotype for descendants of George Brewer and Sarah Lanier) came from North Carolina, and because in the 1790 census of NC, of the 3 men named Jacob White in that census, one lived in Chatham County NC--exactly the same county where so many of these Brewer men lived prior to moving to Tennessee, I am now strongly inclining toward believing that it may have been my ancestor Jacob White "Jr" who may have been fathered by a Brewer (perhaps that same prodigious Lanier Brewer Jr.), and then perhaps adopted by a man named Jacob White of NC, and given the White surname. This little theory of mine makes enormous sense to me.   Given that we "Whites" who have tested (my 4th cousin Roger and I) exactly match the modal haplotype of the "Lanier-Brewer" group (descendants of George and Sarah Lanier Brewer), I am inclined to strongly suspect that the ancestor of mine whose name changed from "Brewer" to "White" had to have lived fairly recently, since there have been no mutations whatsoever (at 37 markers). I do plan, of course, to upgrade to 67 markers. As David will know, those results will be telling.   More on this subject when the 67-marker results come in.   Thanks for speaking up, all of you!   Terry --- On Sun, 6/20/10, David Wilson <dcw1000@verizon.net> wrote: From: David Wilson <dcw1000@verizon.net> Subject: Re: [LL] William Physician Brewer To: lovelace@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, June 20, 2010, 1:10 PM Small world indeed! I have a Lanier Brewer Sr. in the tree, who would be my 6G GF, and whom I currently have (perhaps incorrectly) as a son of George Brewer. I may push at this a bit more today to see if I can straighten this out. Lanier's 2G granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Davis (1870-1949) married my GGF James S. Loveless in 1884. There is a story that some of the VA Brewers had Cherokee ancestry. Do you have that lore in your line? In a case known to me a person had on both sides of his family a remote relative who was a well known poet whose radical verses got him into trouble with the government. The poet on his father's side was born in the 17th century in England and was imprisoned by Cromwell in the Tower of London; the other poet, a distant cousin of his mother, was born in the 19th century in Russia and was confined to his home by Stalin. The person himself, who was born in the 20th century, was nearly imprisoned for the same reasons.  At that time he was only dimly aware of his mother's distant cousin and had no knowledge what so ever about the poet imprisoned in 17th century England. Therefore it can't be said that he was influenced by his heritage and driven into this role because of solidarity with it.   In this respect maybe genes resemble homeopathic medicine – being potentially very powerful even though diluted and dormant for many generations.     Talila       --- On Mon, 6/21/10, Debbie Burke <shadagee@irishsetter.org> wrote: From: Debbie Burke <shadagee@irishsetter.org> Subject: Re: [LL] William Physician Brewer To: lovelace@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, June 21, 2010, 8:45 PM I am trying to phrase something about the mystic/time warp side of DNA snarls being unraveled.  Such a lot of food for thought.....but I can't seem to find the right way to describe  it without minimizing what you're all finding out right now.  And that's not what I intend. ----- Original Message ----- From: "terrence White" <revenant1963@yahoo.com> To: <lovelace@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 20, 2010 7:54 PM Subject: Re: [LL] William Physician Brewer To David Wilson, and Tom and Pam Loveless, I am delighted to discover that I am related to both of you via the Brewers as well as the Lovelxxxes! 2. Mornin' Cuzzies, First day of summertime.....As a chile, I celebrated way too early I think.....like at 3:45 in the afternoon when the last day of school was out in May.....that's when I let out a war whoop! Then I did it again yrs. later when Da Kid would get outta school for the summer. Getting thru the Open championship in golf was a real chore over the week-end. That was the meanest, wickedest golf course Ah ever saw! It just took all the fun outta the whole thing. But, I was fascinated w/ this nutty Lexus ad running for some ugly little car.... oh, yes, contrary to Da Kid, I think all cars are ugly these days. He sez he checked out this car they were advertising on the net, and it sold for a cool $350,000+! Surely they didn't sell any of those booger bears?! o : All is well on this end. The cat crew is very busy being very lazy! Y'all have a good one! Buckette
