    2. Mornin' Cuzzies, From what I've learned: a little word to the wise about friends and family wholose significant people: the one left has a new head that is not screwed on.I don't know why that is. One's ability to think constructively just goes totallyout the window. You repeat stuff all the time and ask the same questions overand over. I've now gotten to where I depend on several to think along w/ mebecause my ability to critically analyze just isn't here. I understand stronglythat it goes w/ the territory. So, if this happens in your family or to a closefriend, understand they are not into accute senility.....that's just the way it isfor awhile. And, I'm also told that all returns to normal by and by. So, if youwant to be of help, know that this is the drill.....it's normal. Ole Buckley was a whiz bang in the stock market, just making money hand overfist, from being self-educated.....read book after book and kept charts all overthis house, that I didn't know about. My learning curve on such is just waaaaytoo steep to take that up myself, so I bailed outta there about election time. Themarket may or may not crash, but certainly it will readjust. In the meantime thebank dept. he was w/ on these stocks is either highly incompentent or crooked asa dawg's hind leg. Getting his money away from the bank has been a real deal.Four and a half months after the fact, I'm still struggling to move his money tomy bank where I'm very well treated and very well cared for.....so, all my wakinghours are spent on this endeavor and that's why you aren't hearing from me much. It's a war! 3. Susan, Keep pluggin'! When my father died many years back, my mother went through a very similar situation and I remember she was quite "out of it" for a while and relied heavily on her friends...and they were in their 30's when he suffered wrongful death. Add in attorneys and you have quite the mess! It will get better. You know that. It just makes the loss so much harder when you have take the months after and pour what little energy you have into fighting with idiots who let their computers do their thinking! My MIL passed in Sept leaving my husband in charge of everything. Only she died in CA and we are in VA. It's been dreadful trying to get people to use their own minds and trying to "beat" the computer systems that only want fill-in-the-blank answers. Makes you want to pull your hair out. My hubby said the other day that it's been 3 months now and he isn't sure that he's even had time to miss his mother. What's amazing is that I worked in Elder Law and Estate Planning and even with my knowledge we are running around in circles. I feel badly for those that aren't aware of the hoops you have to jump through. I hope you have a fabulous group of friends surrounding you. After seeing how everyone on this list adores you, I am sure you must. Betting they are willing to go to the ends of the Earth for you - lean on them! Thinking of you and wishing you some Peace in the coming months! -Sarah > From: spice3@juno.com > Date: Fri, 3 Dec 2010 13:42:08 +0000 > To: lovelace@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [LL] Fri Dec 3, 2010 > > Mornin' Cuzzies, From what I've learned: a little word to the wise about friends and family wholose significant people: the one left has a new head that is not screwed on.I don't know why that is. 3. Susan , Sorry for the problems now and it will get better in time but that doesn't happen yet . I am in a situation now also and the Merry Go Round doesn't seem to stop but I know it will . The good thing we have all of these people to help from all walks of life .The loss of a loved one takes a toll as you already know .I am struggling to remember that things could be worse . Prayers and blessings are sent your way . The love of family on all levels and friends does help . 3. Good morning, Buckette, sorry you are having the typical problems you have described. Of course, *your* bank is much friendlier and easier to deal with because they want *all* your business. My husband quotes Octavio Paz when he says" remember that in things most important to you, you are alone in this world." Your banker's primary job is to *keep* his job and make money for the *bank*. If you stay relatively trouble free, he will be happy. If he was as smart as Old Buckley, he wouldn't be working for the bank! Perhaps not doing anything or at least, the least amount necessary, for the first 6 months might be a good course. Pet the cats when you get really stressed and know that lots of us are thinking of you and learning from your experiences. 3. Hi Greg: In addition to Charles D vs. Charles O there are some other mistakes: - Alice Gaffney Thomas Kelley should read Alice Gaffney Kelley Thomas - Kelley was her maiden name. - Where it lists the nieces - (Lovelace's) - Carol Hatcher should read Mrs. Carol Hatcher. Her name is Sandy and is married to Carol Hatcher. - Laura Terrell should read Laura Ferrell. Hope all is well with everyone on this day before Thanksgiving.  It's a warm, pleasant day here in the SC Lowcountry, presently 65 degrees and mostly sunny, with highs expected in the mid to upper 70s with no chance of rain, unfortunately for us.  We are really dry and could use some good rains over the next few days.  However, with Susan's family coming in for Thanksgiving tomorrow, we're thankful for the nice weather. Been really busy getting ready for the feast tomorrow, and there have been many things happening to keep us hopping.  We went to dinner at Maya's restaurant again on Monday night.  This was our second trip, and first for dau. Sara and mother-in-law, who is down from Raleigh for a week or so.  Very enjoyable, very scrumptious meal.  If you get to come to Charleston, be sure to visit Husk Restaurant.  It's a wonderful place  :-) In additon to having Susan's mom down, I was able to attend the Charleston Classic basketball tournament which was held at the College of Charleston basketball arena.  And my Wolfpack was playing, so I got to watch them through their 3-game appearance!  Great to see them in person in such a small venue.  We could almost count the beads of sweat on the coaches' foreheads  :-)  The 'Pack had two good games, and then a good half against the Georgetown Hoyas (#20 at that time) in the championship game before their youth and inexperience came through in a 6-minute scoreless drought which saw the Hoyas go up by 15, which was the winning margin. So we pickud up our organic turkey yesterday, and Susan and her mom went on a big shopping trip to Whole Foods to get the rest of the fixins for tomorrow's feast.  I have fresh pumpkin that I peeled and cooked during last weekend's NC State vs. NC Tarheel football game (Oh, didn't I mention that the NCSU Wolfpack beat the 'Heels?  How 'bout them Heels, Cecil!).  So I'm all prepped to bake fresh pumpkin pies this evening.  Then I'll be grilling steak (for non-turkey carnivores) and corn and asparagus for tomorrow's meal while the turkey and stuffing are being prepared along with mashed potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, and whatever else Susan has planned.  Gonna be a good meal.  Why don't y'all come on down? Oh...  I want to remind everyone again about the annual conference of the National Genealogical Society to be held in May next year here in Charleston.  The registration opens sometime next month.  I'll be attending, and I really hope some of you can make it so we can have a Lovelace List meet-up!  It would be wonderful! And with that, cuzzins, I'm outta here to pretend to work for as long as I have to before I can leave to hit the gym and then go home.  Y'all have a great one! 2. Mornin' Cuzzies, Mild, still day in Houston town. Everyone scurrying abt. in preparation for thebiggie American holiday Thanksgiving. Isn't it interesting this year as we reflectthat this is for giving thanks for all we have and our way of life in this country.....unique to the Americans as patriotism on this day of blessing struggles as we tryto maintain who we are as a people which we have had historically.....however, notrevered nor respected by those who have recently come here. Sorta interesting torecognize the violent clash between the new and the old this week, as we celebrateour roots, success, and thanks giving. A Jewish/Christian process when those twogroups are being so badly maligned. Interesting times..... o : Y'all have a good one. Buckette
