Lovelace son of Elmer Lovelace son of Archer Lovelace son William Lovelace a mule skinner for the settlers of the Oklahoma Land Rush son of John Lovelace a pastor from Ohio whose youngest son served as a bugle boy in the Union Army. We are descended from four Irish pastor brothers who came to the US during the potato famine. Our predecessor went south and later settled in the Missouri territory, later a son went to the land rush in Oklahoma, we still own the land. During the second world war my grandfather Elmer Lovelace went to California for war work where my father, 18 years old, met my mother Dorthy Wanamaker of the eastern mercantile Wanamaker's. They married and my father William stayed in California when his family went back to Oklahoma. My folks were married 61 years and are now passed away. One son is a missionary in Nicaragua the other works for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. in Ca. and a daughter living in Stockton Ca. I thought you might be interested in another branch of the family. Yours ; Larry Lovelace, Modesto Ca.

    2. Greg; Thanks, I have been doing the same thing, I find Jim Harlan's tree to be quite good. In the handwritten tree I have here, it has the father as Tom Jim (married Permelia Jasper) and the son as John Tom (married Sarah Dye) so it looks like it is tracking pretty well. I tend to get sidetracked when I find little tid bits like What my friend Betty had asked me to do was take two suitcases of "stuff" she a her husband had collected over the years, organize it, get it into a computer program so it could be printed out and verify where possible. I already did this for her family from two suitcases she had on them. That family was from around here in southern Indiana so was easier to work with. I could just walk over to the Jennings County Courthouse from where I live and get copies of documents. It is a bit of a run to Washington County, and even more of one to Pulaski County, Kentucky. I tend to get side tracked when I see something like "shot to death, homicide" on a death certificate, I just know there is a story there and want to know more. I am working on a project on the 82nd Indiana Infantry for one of my web sites and the same thing just happened with it. Note on the record that one fellow died by being shot by a fellow soldier, then a few names down the list another fellow was "hung by order of General Court Martial" for shooting a fellow soldier. I had to find more. Sheila

    3. Hi, Sheila Just doing some down-and-dirty searches online. Confirmed through census records on Ancestry that he is the son of Thomas J. Loveless, but the mother's name varies. In the 1910 and 1870 census, he is married to Permelia F., and in the 1860 and 1850 census he is married to Jane. And I just found the reason for that discrepancy... Thomas James Loveless b. 1844, married to Permelia Frances Jasper, was the son of Thomas Loveless Jr. b. 1811 and Jane Williams. So I have two different families there. I found this on Rootsweb's WorldConnect site ( http://wc.rootsweb.com ). There are 10 family trees on WorldConnect which show Thomas James Loveless married to Permelia Frances Jasper. I find John Thomas Loveless b. 10 Apr 1876 married to Sarah M. Dye, which fits with the death certificate. Here are some notes from WorldConnect: from Jim Harlan's tree (Jim was on our list for a long time... not sure if he still is) "•Name: John Thomas LOVELESS •Given Name: John Thomas •Surname: Loveless •Sex: M •Birth: 10 Apr 1876 •Note: Not sure if this is him. From the 1911-1986 Kentucky Death Index: John T. Loveless Date: 270928 Age: 051 Place: PLSKI Volume: 053 Cert: 26494 Deathvol : 27 There is a head stone in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery in Pulaski Co., Kentucky with the following information: V. T. Loveless born 4-10-1876 died: 9-28-1927 could this V.T. be the same John Thomas Loveless???" There are also census records from 1900 and 1920 showing him as the head of household with Sarah M. as his wife. Ancestry.com has his WWI draft registration card and his listing in the KY birth records. I also found the death certificate online at Ancestry. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find any details about his death. There are children listed in some of the WorldConnect files, and I'm sure there are children listed in the census records, although I did not look at them. Hope this helps.... 2. Mornin' Cuzzies, It's a brisk, windy, cool day to start off the New Year.....and many of us areglad to see 2010 go! I will say mah general physical condition is much betterthis morn that it has been in the past.....I could really howl on New Year's Eve!o : And, would wake up New Year's Day not too alive. In fact, this note goesto one in Arizona who I used to howl with on a regular basis more than 50 yrs.ago....the ole high school beau. Do we ever get over the high school beau? Idon't think so. Between us we've been through 5 marriages with others, andyet *we* are still together. ( : Eat your black eyed peas, do your good luck dance, watch some football andenjoy the day. Ah plan to..... 2. Mornin' Cuzzies, Wasn't it great to hear from Greg Baby! No one can write a note to us likehe can! Rushing to get through w/ mah stuff before the year gets through w/ its stuff! If you've talked to your CPA recently abt. taxes, you understand he doesn'tknow anymore than you do. The CPAs have been having multiple seminars toget up to speed on the new tax laws, and even the smartest of them say its allsimply mind boggling and extra-ordinarily complicated. Ha! Tell me somethingI didn't know. Yesterday came a gully washer in Houston.....ahem, while I was out in the stuff!I inflated water wings while in the car, preparing to jump and run. Yes! It wasthat bad! At least it's not bitterly cold....kinda mild actually.....high 60's. The New Orleans Saints game earlier in the week was the most beautifully executedfootball I've ever seen. Just a magnificent game! But everyone has watery eyes, a red nose, and a glazed look. The colds andstuff are really running around. I wash my hands 'til the skin's gonna drop off, inhale quantities of vitamin C and Panathenic Acid, and shovel Cold-eeze dropsinto mah face on a regular basis. So far, so good. Hang in. 2010 almost gone, and for me, that will not be w/ sadness. I'll be morethan glad to get its little buttinski outta here! Have a good one! Buckette

    2. Okay. Thanks Jack. I don't believe I looked in any Talbot County info while I was in MD. I was in Prince George's and they had a lot of PG and Charles, but I don't recall seeing any Talbot, although they did have the complete Maryland will index for the right time frame and it wasn't in that. Looks like it would have been, should have been. Hmmm. I'll keep looking. Lou Ann

    1. [LL] Did You Say SNOW
    2. Hi Cousin Greg, Jim spent most of the day moving the 26 inches of snow out of the driveway. Not only did he plow our driveway, but each of the kids as they live next door and next door to that. In the midst of that, the across the street neighbor's plow broke down and he lent him a hand. My sister, who lives about an hour north of me, had none. Go figure. Glad you had a great Christmas. Phyllis of the Northern NY Mountains
